Lil Wayne loses lawsuit against Quincy Jones III: Did health problems cost him the case?

  • Pop2it
Lil Wayne lost his case against Quincy Jones III and Jones' countersuit against him on Monday (Nov. 5), with a jury ordering the rapper to pay Jones $2,195,000.

Lil Wayne was suing Jones for using his music in a documentary chronicling the rapper's life as he was putting together the album "Tha Carter III." Wayne was reportedly down with the documentary at first but later disowned it, calling it a "scandalous portrayal."

According to TMZ, Lil Wayne never showed up in court for the trial, since the day he was scheduled to testify, he had suffered seizure-like episodes, preventing him from flying. In his absence, Lil Wayne's lawyer then had to show the jury Wayne's deposition tapes, in which he mocks and sort of vaguely threatens Jones' attorney.

Lil Wayne Pissed Off With Court Result

Lil Wayne is very pissed off with the fact that he lost his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III. He tells sources, however, he is not upset because of the money but because of the fact that he thinks that the judge should have given him enough time to recover from his health problems before the said ruling.

Wayne is positive that the jurors were pissed off at him because he didn't show up and testify. What the jurors didn't know was that he was sick at the time and couldn't fly to La.

One weird thing though is the fact that he was too sick to go to a court hearing but he wasn't that sick when he was out sitting in Miami at the courtside for the Heat game.

Lil Wayne loses lawsuit against The Carter filmmaker, ordered to pay him $2.2 million

Lil Wayne has lost his lawsuit against the makers of The Carter, a documentary about him. TMZ reports that not only was Weezy defeated on his original claim that the filmmaker, Quincy Jones III, used his songs without permission, he’s also been ordered to pay Jones $2.2 million for costing Jones profits on his documentary by attempting to block its release. None of this seems likely to do anything to change Weezy’s already skeptical opinion of the justice system, as evidenced by the September video of him berating an attorney at his deposition. Wayne also refused to ...

Weezy Loses In Lawsuit Against Quincy Jones' Son
In an unexpected turn of events, Grammy Award-winning rapper, Lil Wayne has lost his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III, resulting in the rapper forking over $2.2 million to the producer, according to TMZ.

The site reports that a jury has ordered the multi-platinum Mc to pay the amount based on Jones’ countersuit that argued Weezy blocked the release of the docu-flick, "The Carter 3,” leading to lost profits.

Last month Wayne made headlines with the case following the release of his June 20 deposition, which was used to the rapper's disadvantage after a "severe migraine and dehydration" caused his absence in court.

The New Orleans native originally filed the lawsuit against Jones III and his production company, QD3 Entertainment, for using unlicensed music from his 2008 album, “The Carter 3.”

Lil Wayne scolded by judge over deposition tapes in documentary lawsuit

  • Pop2it
Fans may have been laughing at Lil Wayne's flippant responses to questions during a deposition for his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III, but the judge certainly wasn't.

Following a medical emergency last week, the rapper was unable to appear in court. Lil Wayne's lawyer said that the deposition tapes would be shown in his absence. On the tapes, the rapper tells Jones' attorney, Pete Ross, "That's a stupid a** question," in response to Ross asking him if he'd given an interview with Katie Couric. He also tells Ross that he doesn't remember events like being arrested and serving time in jail.

Lil Wayne also kinda, sorta, maybe issues a vague threat to Ross in the video, saying, "You know [the judge] can't save you right? In the real world."

According to MTV, the judge in the case called the rapper's actions "unreasonable conduct in the deposition" and "irresponsible behavior."

Lil Wayne court case in jeopardy after rapper's seizures

  • Pop2it
Lil Wayne's recent health woes could mean bad news for his lawsuit against a documentarian whom he accuses of portraying him scandalously and using his music without permission.

According to TMZ, Wayne had to miss a scheduled testimony on Friday, Oct. 26 because of his two hospitalizations for seizure-like symptoms, which grounded two separate flights he was on when he suffered the medical emergencies mid-air.

Now, sources tell TMZ that Wayne probably won't be able to testify on Monday, either, and likely not for some time after that. That would mean a severe disruption to the lives of the jurors, so the judge might be forced to declare a mistrial or make Wayne's lawyers present the case without the rapper's testimony.

Wayne is suing Quincy Jones III over his documentary about the making of "Tha Carter III," and has already been deposed (to hilarious results) in the case.
