How we made Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

‘I walked into a diner just after the film opened – and the whole place went crazy. It’s been like that every day for 30 years’

I got the Bill & Ted script in the late 80s, after I made Critters. It was apparently Hollywood’s most widely read at the time. Writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson had based it on a pair of characters they used for standup comedy. I fell out of my chair laughing. It wasn’t like the John Hughes slice-of-life comedy, it was a bit out-there: two guys from San Dimas who go back in time to research their school history report. I remember saying this is either going to be a huge hit or a huge flop.

Bill and Ted Almost Kidnapped Hitler Instead of Napoleon

Bill and Ted Almost Kidnapped Hitler Instead of Napoleon
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is one of the best movies of the 1980s, but it was almost much different, according to the original notes of creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. In honor of Keanu Reeves' birthday, Solomon shared their 1984 outline for the story, which would have had the iconic duo kidnapping Adolph Hitler instead of Napoleon. Bill and Ted were going to take their time traveling van (before they had the idea of the phonebooth) to Nazi Germany and get Hitler for their history report.

Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson's first outline for Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is still roughly what ended up on the screen as far as the main story. But, it appears that there was a lot of throwing things against the wall to see what sticks during the writing process, just like any project that ends up as a classic. The Adolf Hitler

Alex Winter says Bill & Ted Face the Music is still moving ahead in 2019

Back in May it was announced that the long-awaited Bill & Ted 3 – a.k.a. Bill & Ted Face the Music – is officially a go, with filming slated to get underway in January.

While that was music to the ears of Wyld Stallyns fans, Keanu Reeves was quoted last month as stating that he has some reservations as to whether the movie will get made; however, his co-star Alex Winter doesn’t seem to share those concerns, telling SlashFilm that he still expects to begin filming in the New Year.

“We’re still in pre-production,” said Winter. “It’s still the same. Early 2019 is still the same. I’m still being told to hold those dates. That’s all I know. What I keep telling everyone is I don’t trust a movie as being made, frankly, until, literally, I’m watching it on cable two years after it’s done. Not

Bill and Ted 3 Confirmed to Shoot in February, Financing Still Needed

Bill and Ted 3 Confirmed to Shoot in February, Financing Still Needed
A few weeks ago, Keanu Reeves made a lot of hearts sink when he stated that Bill & Ted 3 may not actually happen. Well, cheer up. Because that was just the sometimes dowdy actor speaking a little out of turn. According to others working on the sequel, it's definitely set to start shooting in February as the crew continues securing financing.

Whenever there is bad news about Bill & Ted, it's usually Keanu Reeves being the harbinger of doom. Throughout this long and arduous process, he has often claimed that the production was two inches from evaporating into thin air. Reeves has also admitted that some of these disparaging words come from the fact that he's not quite sure how to reprise the character in his middle age. And you can kind of see his frustration. He's spent almost thirty years trying to distance himself from that dude-bro persona. But let's face it,

Keanu Reeves suggests Bill & Ted Face the Music may not be moving forward after all

Back in May, fans of Bill & Ted got the most triumphant news that the long-rumoured Bill & Ted Face the Music was officially a go, with actors Alex Winter (Bill) and Keanu Reeves (Ted) with original Bill & Ted creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon for another excellent adventure.

The project appeared all set to be moving towards a January start date under director Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) but now, in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment to promote his new film Siberia, Keanu Reeves has suggested that may not be the case after all.

“I don’t know if it’s a reality,” said Reeves. “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges. I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell. Part of it is show business stuff — financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively.”

Keanu Reeves Warns ‘Bill & Ted’ Sequel May Not Happen After All
Fans erupted in cheers two months ago when it was announced that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter would reprise their roles as “Ted” Theodore Logan and “Bill” S. Preston Esq. in “Bill & Ted Face the Music” — but now, Reeves has warned the third film might not happen.

“I don’t know if it’s a reality,” Reeves told Yahoo Entertainment. “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges.”

The actor said the challenges are financial ones, not creative ones, adding that he had ideas for the older version of Theodore Logan.

Bill and Ted 3 Still May Not Happen Warns Keanu Reeves

Bill and Ted 3 Still May Not Happen Warns Keanu Reeves
After it seemed like Bill & Ted 3 was officially happening with a late 2018 production start as well as a director and studio in place, Keanu Reeves admits that the project is still in limbo. The third installment, also known as Bill and Ted Face the Music, has been struggling to find an adequate budget for years, and it appears that problem still exists, according to Reeves. Bill and Ted fans have been waiting since 1991 to see the third installment.

In a new interview, Keanu Reeves cast some doubt on Bill and Ted 3 happening. The actor maintains that he and Alex Winter are ready to return, but they are having trouble getting the studio to give them the budget that they need to do it right. Reeves also stated that they have a really good story to tell. He explains.

"I don't know if it's a reality. We've been trying for a

Confronting Hollywood Ageism, ‘Mosaic’s Sharon Stone Refuses To Be Constrained

  • Deadline
When Steven Soderbergh set out to make Mosaic—a murder mystery surrounding a magnetic, commanding and complex female character—he had in mind one particular actress who can expertly convey all those traits with barely a blink: Sharon Stone. And in playing the doomed Olivia Lake, Stone enthusiastically dug deep into a character that was “messy and flawed and vulnerable and warts and all.” Which is not surprising, given Stone’s penchant for authenticity as her career has progressed, and her refusal to cave to the stereotypical roles on offer for older women.

This role was essentially written for you. What were the conversations between you, Soderbergh and the writer Ed Solomon like beforehand?

Well, I didn’t know a lot about it in advance. Steven called me and told me that it was a big piece, that we would each just get our own section—the script is 500 pages

'Mosaic' Screenwriter on the Reaction to the "Branching Narrative" and Why There Won't Be a Sequel

The HBO miniseries Mosaic began as a storytelling experiment. It was 2013 when Steven Soderbergh first brought the idea of a “branching narrative” platform to screenwriter Ed Solomon (whose film credits include Now You See Me, Men in Black and the Bill & Ted films, including the recently announced sequel, Bill & Ted Face the Music). Over the next three years, they developed a 500-page script and filmed eight hours of footage to tell a murder mystery in two forms: Through the Mosaic app, where users follow a customized branching narrative; and through HBO’s six-episode “linear” version, released two ...

Is Universal's Dark Universe Rising from the Dead?

Those who had high hopes for Universal's Dark Universe may not be totally out of luck, despite the fact that it seemed like the the studio's plans for a monster movie cinematic universe were all but dead. Indeed, some newly surfaced evidence online suggests that the Dark Universe may be on a path to resurrection following the disastrous release of The Mummy last year. Though, we must admit, this isn't exactly a lot to go on.

This bit of Dark Universe hope comes from artist Robert Vargas who recently made quite the interesting post to his Instagram account. Apparently, Vargas had a meeting with some of the folks at Universal who are in charge of what's left of the Dark Universe, whatever that may be. In any case, they may have Vargas do some artwork for them related to "monster things." Here's what Vargas had to say in his post.
