SNL Finale Highlights: Tina Fey Spoofs Mean Girls Musical, Royal Wedding

SNL Finale Highlights: Tina Fey Spoofs Mean Girls Musical, Royal Wedding
Despite a valiant effort from returning host Tina Fey, Saturday Night Live‘s 43rd season went out with (mostly) a whimper.

Following a lackluster (and dated!) Sopranos-themed cold open, SNL rebounded with Fey’s star-studded monologue, which featured cameos by Jerry Seinfeld, Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Donald Glover, Chris Rock, Benedict Cumberbatch, Fred Armisen and Tracy Morgan. The sharp, resonant bit poked fun at the show’s preference for using big-name guest stars instead of its own cast members.

Weirdly, the underwhelming episode picked up steam in the last half-hour…

‘SNL’ Finale: Tina Fey Takes Questions From Jerry Seinfeld, Benedict Cumberbatch, Donald Glover (Watch)
Tina Fey hosted the May 19 season finale of “Saturday Night Live” and she brought with her some of her famous friends.

For her opening monologue, the former “SNL” writer and actor said she was told she was allowed to do anything because it was her birthday yesterday, and what she wanted to do was take questions from the audience.

The first one was from Jerry Seinfeld, who asked her if she thought the show had too many celebrity cameos of late. (Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro had returned just minutes before for the cold open.)

Early projections hint Ocean's 8 will score big with possible $45M opening

The last three Ocean’S movies starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon were all big earners, with each passing $100 million at the domestic box office. The female-led reboot of the series, Ocean’S 8, with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and more should have the same success, especially now that projections are placing its opening weekend as high as $45 million. 20 Secrets About John Krasinski And Emily Blunt’s Marriage

A lot of celebrity couples become known as relationship goals. However, a lot of those iconic couples end up breaking up or having a terrible scandal surface about them.

Beyoncé and Jay-z recently confirmed rumors that he had actually been unfaithful to the queen. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris were one of Hollywood's best-loved couples right up until they shockingly filed for divorce.

There are plenty of surprises hiding inside the marriage of beloved celebrity couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

Thankfully for this adorable pair, every one of those secrets is absolutely adorable.

Like the time Krasinski visited Blunt every other week when she was filming <em>Mary Poppins</em> and had to explain that he, yes he, had married the superstar. Or when he was totally obsessed with <em>The Devil Wears Prada</em> before they ever even met and almost scared his future wife away with his unbridled enthusiasm.

From Krasinski's

Box office tracking suggests Ocean’s 8 will steal a big opening weekend

Opening weekend numbers have always been important to the success of a summer blockbuster, but now we live in an age where the pre-release tracking can also have a huge impact on the way a film is received, so if the buzz on Ocean’s 8 is to be believed, then Warner Bros./Village Roadshow will be pretty pleased with the figures that Deadline is reporting.

Opening on June 8th in the Us, industry number crunchers have it projected as high as $45m for the weekend. It’s a number comparable with the last gender switch franchise reboot, Ghostbusters, which opened with $46 million ($128.3 million domestic total) in 2016. While that film was deemed a commercial flop, largely thanks to the $140 million budget, Ocean’s 8 is estimated to have cost in the region of $70 million, so this will be a big score for the studio.

Ocean's 8 Is on Track for a Great $45M Opening Weekend

Warner Bros. is getting ready to roll out its highly-anticipated female lead Ocean's 8, a spin-off of director Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven trilogy, and it seems this could be a sleeper hit of the summer. Early box office tracking has put Ocean's 8 between $30 million and $45 million for its opening weekend. While we'll have to wait about three weeks to see how it really fares in theaters, this high-profile spin-off has the advantage of debuting right in between some of this summer's biggest movies.

Ocean's 8 will be going up against Global Road's action-thriller Hotel Artemis and A24's thriller Hereditary, and while both of those movies will arrive in wide release, they likely won't get quite as wide a release as Ocean's 8, which will likely be somewhere between a 3,500 and 3,750 theater-count debut. The movie has an estimated production budget of $70 million, a modest figure that could mean

‘Ocean’s 8’ Plotting $30 Million Box Office Opening Weekend

‘Ocean’s 8’ Plotting $30 Million Box Office Opening Weekend
Ocean’s 8” is placing its bets on a safe opening weekend.

Early tracking shows the female-led heist film is eyeing a domestic debut of $30 million when it opens on June 8, though some estimates show it could earn as much as $36 million.

A three-day weekend total around $30 million would be significantly less than Sony’s all-female reboot of “Ghostbusters,” which launched in 2016 with a solid $46 million. The ultimately plagued movie tapered out at $128 million in North America and $229 million worldwide. With hefty production costs and marketing budgets, the sci-fi comedy — starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones — ultimately lost the studio around $50 million.

It’s worth noting that “Ocean’s 8’s” older target audience doesn’t always rush to theaters on opening weekend. Its success will likely rely on playability stemming heavily from reviews and word of mouth.

At the very least, “Ocean’s 8” had a smaller price tag than “Ghostbusters,

‘Ocean’s 8,’ One of This Summer’s Big Gambles, Plots to Steal $30 Million on Opening Weekend

After a May loaded with Marvel and Star Wars, June will see some different potential summer blockbusters storm theaters, aiming to give moviegoers a change of pace. Leading them is Warner Bros./Village Roadshow’s “Ocean’s 8,” an all-female spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s Trilogy” that is considered one of the riskier wide releases coming out this summer.

This is the second straight year Warner Bros turned to women to bring in big summer bucks. Last year, the studio had the movie of the summer, Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman,” which grossed $412.5 million during its domestic run and became the flag-bearer in the push for more major films that prominently feature women in the cast and crew.

“Ocean’s 8,” a decidedly different movie, isn’t expected to make nearly as much — as early tracking has its opening weekend set at roughly $30 million against a production budget of $70 million.

‘355’: Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, and Penélope Cruz to Star in Global Spy Thriller from ‘Deadpool’ and ‘The Martian’ Producer
Thursday at Cannes, A-list actresses from five nations courted international and domestic buyers with a ensemble spy film they hope to make in the tradition of “The Bourne Identity.” Deadline reports that Jessica Chastain thought up the idea for “355,” taking the name from Agent 355, an unidentified woman who worked as one of our nation’s first secret agents during the American Revolution. The “Zero Dark Thirty” veteran found an instant champion for the project in Simon Kinberg, her director in next year’s “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”

“Cat Woman” and “Harriet the Spy” screenwriter Theresa Rebeck has already penned the script, which Kinberg wants to direct, envisioning a future franchise. With her company Freckle Films, Chastain will produce and also co-star, alongside very famous natives of Spain (Penélope Cruz), France (Marion Cotillard), China (Fan Bingbing), and Mexico (Lupita Nyong’o).

Cruz also stars in the film that opened the Cannes Film Festival Tuesday,

Daniel Craig Scores Huge $25M Payday for James Bond 25?

While there are a great many of uncertainties in regards to the upcoming entry in the long-running franchise, it's certain that the actor is going to be taking home a massive paycheck for his final go as the iconic MI6 spy. This also makes him the highest-paid actor for a single movie in Hollywood right now, according to a new report that reveals what actors and actresses are commanding for their biggest movies.

Scarlett Johansson Explains Why She Wore Marchesa to Met Gala

Scarlett Johansson Explains Why She Wore Marchesa to Met Gala
Scarlett Johansson has officially ended Hollywood’s red carpet blackout of Marchesa, the high-end womenswear brand co-founded by Harvey Weinstein’s estranged wife, Georgina Chapman.

Johansson opted to wear a Marchesa gown to Monday night’s Met Gala, making a loud statement in one of the evening’s most understated dresses. The “Avengers” star explains that she wore Marchesa because she wanted to show her support for the two women behind the brand, Chapman and co-founder Keren Craig.

“I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful, and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers,” Johansson said in a statement to Variety, making no mention of Weinstein, who she worked with on 2008’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

Johansson’s reps tell Variety that the actress approached Chapman and Craig months ago about dressing her for the Met Gala.

Here’s How Much Robert Downey Jr. Earned On Spider-Man: Homecoming

For the past 10 years, Robert Downey Jr. has served as the beating heart of Marvel’s cinematic universe, appearing in no less than nine feature films – expect Avengers 4 to take that (final?) tally to 10 in exactly one year’s time.

That means he’s been on the ground level of one of the biggest movie franchises ever to grace Hollywood, and the fact that Avengers: Infinity War recently brought the McU’s total gross north of $15 billion only drives the point home: Rdj has been instrumental in that meteoric success, and his involvement in the likes of The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: Homecoming undoubtedly helped amplify each film’s respective box office performance.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed, either, as Variety has crunched the numbers to reveal that Robert Downey Jr. was among the highest paid actors on the planet, despite his 15 minutes of screentime in Homecoming. Last year, Rdj

‘Jurassic World’ Salaries: Chris Pratt Paid $2 Million More Than Bryce Dallas Howard on Sequel — Report
Jurassic World” was a box office force of nature in 2015. The Colin Trevorrow-directed tentpole made over $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the second-highest grossing film of the year after “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The title remains one of the biggest releases of the decade. Despite the film’s massive box office earnings, co-leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard did not receive equal pay on the sequel, “Fallen Kingdom.”

According to Variety, the actors both earned big bonuses for the second installment. Pratt ended up with a $10 million payday, two million more than Howard’s $8 million salary. Pratt is the bigger name given his roles in other franchises like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Lego Movie,” but the two actors are the co-leads of the “Jurassic World” franchise. Some people will also argue that star power means less for sequels, as “Fallen Kingdom” is all

This year, summer started a weekend earlier with the April 27 release of Marvel's highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, so we decided to break down the entire summer movie season and try to predict the top 10 movies at the box office this season.

For the past four years, the summer movie season has kicked off with a Marvel Studios adventure.
