Troy Miller is an Emmy-winning director and producer whose work has helped shape the voice of modern comedy across television, film, and live events. With two Primetime Emmys and more than twenty nominations, he's known for crafting the tone of groundbreaking series such as Mr. Show with Bob and David, HBO's Flight of the Conchords, and Tenacious D. He directed the feature film Jack Frost starring Michael Keaton, and later produced/directed the final two seasons of Arrested Development, further establishing his skill with ensemble-driven, cinematic comedy.
Miller's work spans standout episodes of The Office, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Goldbergs, as well as high-profile live productions. He directed one of Netflix's largest-ever live events, Katt Williams' Woke Folk, and is widely credited with creating the format for the now-ubiquitous award show opening film-first established with Billy Crystal's iconic Oscar openers. His credits include six Academy Awards openers, twelve MTV Movie Awards openings, and segments for the Emmys.
As the founder of Dakota Pictures, he has championed breakthrough voices with a distinct mix of visual style, polish, and improvisational energy. Across his career, Miller has consistently brought a filmmaker's sensibility to comedy-elevating performances with precision, timing, and a cinematic eye that leaves a lasting impression.
