After a short spell of denial, I finally gave in and started a pretty disciplined nutritional regimen of: no alcohol; no caffeine; no sodas or fizzy, sugary drinks; definitely no smoking or recreational drugs; mostly vegetarian diet with as much organic produce as I could afford; almost total abstinence from refined flour products and sugary foods; lots of fertility optimizing supplements and vitamins; more regular sleep patterns; conscious reduction of stress. And after living with this regimen for 2+ years, I did get pregnant.
