Sherlock Gnomes Cast Interviews – James McAvoy, Stephen Merchant, Jamie Demetriou & more

Yesterday as the capital bathed in some unseasonable sunshine giant garden gnomes invaded Leicester Square for a family gala screening of Sherlock Gnomes, the follow up to the most acclaimed clay-based Shakespeare adaptation Gnomeo and Juliet.

The film stars Emily Blunt, James McAvoy, Mary J. Blige, Stephen Merchant, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Johnny Depp, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ashley Jensen, Matt Lucas and Dexter Fletcher. Sir Elton John also has contributed music and voice to the project, although in a slightly more family friendly take than his role in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

In this film two garden gnomes, Gnomeo & Juliet, recruit the renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments. The director John Stevenson talked passionately about respecting the characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the number of Sherlockian Easter Eggs which are present in the film.

Taron Egerton confirmed for Elton John biopic Rocketman

Back in July of last year it was reported that Taron Egerton was circling the lead in the long-gestating Elton John biopic Rocketman, and now comes word that the Kingsman star is officially on board and the project is close to a green light at Paramount Pictures.

Rocketman will reunite Egerton with his Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher and producer Matthew Vaughn, who also directed Egerton in the Kingsman films. Elton John, who himself cameod in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, will also produce with his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.

The film has been scripted by Lee Hall, and will explore the entertainer’s life in and out of the spotlight and “examine how he has become one of the best singer-composers of all time and how he has retained his fame in spite of scandals.”

Paramount Pictures are nearing completion on a deal to finance and distribute the Elton John biopic, Rocketman.

Dexter Fletcher will take the helm on the biopic on one of the music world’s most iconic artists. Fletcher will also reunite with his Eddie the Eagle star, Taron Egerton who is set to play the Rocketman himself. To make the film that little more authentic, Egerton will perform Elton’s songs himself after wowing sources with his almost identical vocal talents.

The film covers the singer/pianist’s growth from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.

Taron Egerton, who is best known for his role in the Kingsman franchise, is set to play Elton John in the upcoming biopic Rocketman. The movie is set up at Paramount Pictures with Matthew Vaughn producing, and Dexter Fletcher is set to direct it. He recently replaced Bryan Singer as the director of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

According to Variety, the movie has also been described as, "a biographical musical fantasy that will weave together John’s life and his music... it follows his life story from a child piano prodigy (who by age 11 won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music) to a young man who rebelled against his strict upbringing, wore outrageous costumes and became a global icon who teamed with songwriter Bernie Taupin to sell more records that just about any musical artist of his era."

It's now official, Taron Egerton will play Elton John in the upcoming biopic entitled Rocketman. Paramount announced today that they have officially green-lit the project, which will be directed by Dexter Fletcher from a screenplay written by Lee Hall. The biopic is said to be an "unvarnished" look at the life and career of the Elton John, which will show him as a young piano prodigy all the way to superstardom and overcoming addiction later in life. Rocketman has Elton John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish producing the film along with Matthew Vaughn.

The Kingsman actor Taron Egerton has not been shy about his desire to play Elton John in Rocketman. Taron Egerton will star as in Elton John in “Rocketman,” the biopic about the famed singer, with Paramount Pictures nearing a deal to finance and distribute worldwide.

Dexter Fletcher, who replaced Bryan Singer to direct the Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” is attached to helm the project.

The film, written by Lee Hall, will include John’s emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a music superstar and his partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin. John broke out with the 1973 album “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” which topped the charts for two months in the U.S. and U.K.

Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films will produce, along with John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.

The deal was put together by Wyck Godfrey, president of Paramount Motion Pictures Group. Production is set to start this summer.

Paramount Pictures is closing a deal to finance and distribute the Elton John biopic “Rocketman,” in which Taron Egerton is set to play the iconic singer.

Dexter Fletcher is directing Egerton as he portrays John in the various stages of his legendary life. Lee Hall wrote the script for the package, and John is producing with Marv Films and Matthew Vaughn alongside John’s Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish.

In 2012, John had said he wanted Justin Timberlake to play him. Then, Tom Hardy’s name was being floated by producers on the film.

Egerton is set to sing John’s songs himself, with production set to begin in August.

The British actor has worked with both Vaughn and John in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” and Egerton also starred in the Vaughn-directed “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” Fletcher and Egerton have also collaborated before on “Eddie the Eagle,” which Fletcher directed and Egerton starred in. Hot on the heels of Academy Award nominated drama I, Tonya, Margot Robbie is back for a completely different role in Terminal that would give Harley Quinn the creeps. A teaser trailer was released last week that featured Robbie's femme fatale character walking through a landscape that looks like Blade Runner 2049 envisioned as a Quentin Tarantino movie. Not much info was given with the teaser for Terminal, but the first full-length trailer offers a lot more substance, and it looks pretty cool.
