Emma Thompson reprising Agent O role in Men in Black spin-off

It looks like we’ll see at least one familiar face from the Men in Black franchise in the series’ spin-off starring Thor: Ragnarok‘s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Academy Award winner Emma Thompson will reprise her Men in Black 3 role as Agent O, the leader of the secret organization.

Thompson’s Agent O assumed the leadership role after the death of Z, reflecting the real life passing of Z actor Rip Torn. She was also played by Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) as a younger version of the character in the 60s timeline.

Joining Hemsworth and the two Thompsons is Liam Neeson (Taken), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as well as Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois, a street dancing duo known as the Les Twins. Filming on Men in Black will begin later this month in London.

David Schwimmer: An Unjust History of the Emmys Ignoring the Man Behind ‘Friends’ Most Disliked Character

If you Google “ross friends,” the first search result (once you get past two Wikipedia pages) is an article titled “8 Reasons Ross from ‘Friends’ Is a Massive Asshole.” Next is a story aggregating an essay that argues Ross is a tragic hero, but the author summarizing that essay can’t propose a positive interpretation of Dr. Geller without first describing Ross as (in official-looking capital letters) “The Worst Person In The World.” Third on the list is Buzzfeed’s “30 ‘Friends’ Moments That Prove Ross Geller Is Literally the Worst,” which pretty much speaks for itself.

Friends” fans have a pretty strong beef with Ross, and no, this isn’t an argument for why he’s actually the show’s best character — those articles have been written, too. This is an acknowledgement of an outstanding performance often overlooked in favor of the character being portrayed; a look back on what might

Liam Neeson in talks to join Men in Black Spin off; Brief synopsis revealed

Sony’s Men in Black spin-off seems to be gaining some traction ahead of its planned production start in London in June. Not only have we got an extremely brief synopsis to mull over, but action veteran Liam Neeson has entered talks to join the alien saga.

Neeson would be coming onto the spin-off to play the head of the U.K. branch of the Mib agency. Rip Torn portrayed the head of the American division in the original films.

After Neeson’s self-imposed retirement from the action genre, the project could be right up his street as he looks to take it easy on set. We can’t but wonder if his skills in the action arena may just come in to play, even for a brief moment.

Liam Neeson in talks for Men in Black reboot

It looks like the Men in Black reboot may have found its new leader. Variety reports Liam Neeson (Taken) has begun talks to join Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in the new film.

If negotiations are successful, Neeson will portray the head of the U.K. branch of the Mib organization. Audiences have previously seen Rip Torn (Dodgeball) as Zed in the first two Men in Black films while Emma Thompson (The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle) was the new leader, Oh, in the third film.

A recent rumour of the reboot’s plot suggests Tessa Thompson, who is re-teaming with her Thor: Ragnarok co-star Chris Hemsworth, will play a fresh recruit to the London Mib branch and partnering with Hemsworth’s former ace agent on a worldwide mystery.

The new Men in Black is set for release on May 17th 2019 and will “acknowledge and build on the world” of the first three movies,

The studio fast-tracked the project earlier this fall, setting Matt Holloway and Art Marcum to pen the script and dating a May 17, 2019, release.

The original movie followed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who played agents of a secret organization known as the Men in Black and protected Earth from intergalactic bad guys. The first film was huge hit in 1997 and produced two more sequels.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing, with Steven Spielberg executive producing. David Beaubaire is overseeing the film for Sony.

Tessa Thompson Joins Chris Hemsworth in ‘Men In Black’ Spin-off

It seems that the upcoming Men in Black spinoff will be a Thor: Ragnarok mini-reunion. THR is reporting that Tessa Thompson has officially signed on to join the upcoming film. Details are slim at this point on Thompson’s character, but she could potentially join her Thor: Ragnarok co-star Chris Hemsworth to be the main duo in the new spin-off. The new film is said to have a much bigger cast and will be set in the same universe as the original films, however THR also notes that this interpretation could end up being “more of an ensemble piece than a two-hander and will be more global in scope.”

Last we heard, Hemsworth was in talks to star in the new take on the Men in Black franchise, but this new report seems to suggest that the actor is expected to reach a deal soon. F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious,

Peace, Love and Dick Jokes: Judd Apatow on 'The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling'
Garry Shandling had just paid for a tuna-melt sandwich when a dark one-liner about the human condition – about his human condition, anyway – popped into his head: "I was born in hospice." He liked it, maybe enough to use on stage, but with no notepaper available, he jotted down the joke on his tuna-melt receipt and stuffed it in a pocket. On a recent morning in Los Angeles, Judd Apatow reads from the receipt and grins. "That's pretty good," he says.

Almost two years ago, Shandling died of a heart attack

Men in Black Spin-Off Closes in on Chris Hemsworth

Men in Black Spin-Off Closes in on Chris Hemsworth
Chris Hemsworth has entered negotiations to star in Sony's highly-anticipated Men in Black spin-off, news which comes just a month after The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray came aboard to take the helm. This new report also reveals that the story will be set in London, centering on a trio of new characters including a "white character, a black woman and an older man." While it seems likely that Chris Hemsworth will be playing the, "white character," no further details about this character were given.

Sony's approach to this project is said to be similar to Universal's approach to their 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World, which brought in new characters to the world established in the 1993 classic Jurassic Park. This Men in Black spin-off will not feature Will Smith's Agent J or Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K, but the movie will continue to build off

Jeff Bridges interview: Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Iron Man, Starman, westerns

Duncan Bowles Sep 20, 2017

Jeff Bridges chats to us about movies, Kingsman, westerns, Iron Man and more...

When preparing for an interview it can often be a double edged sword if you choose to look at other peoples’ work. Sometimes you read an interview and the answers can look frighteningly short, so panic might set in that perhaps that person isn’t very chatty, or doesn’t like doing them (though often publications just choose to use highlights), but I have to say that with Jeff Bridges, I’m glad I’d read Celia Walden’s talk with him for the Telegraph first.

I wouldn’t usually reference what I’d read in an introduction, but once you know you’re going to be sat in a room with Jeff Bridges, alone, for fifteen minutes, you need as much preparation as possible – he is, after all, a cinematic legend who needs no introduction.

Defending Your Life

Albert Brooks’ 1991 dramedy finds Brooks himself as a recently deceased ad executive caught in an otherworldly limbo where he must, literally, defend his life to a heavenly court in order to determine his fate in the afterlife. It’s a terrific premise but the comic possibilities are somewhat deflated by writer/director Brooks’ decision to remake himself into a bona fide romantic leading man. The newly reformed comedian ends up indulging in many of the cliches he usually skewers. With Meryl Streep as Brooks’ celestial sweetheart and the great Rip Torn as his less than angelic attorney.

Olivia de Havilland Sues "Feud"

Photo by Damon Winter via La TimesHere's a deliciously fitting coda to the first season of Ryan Murphy's Feud. Olivia de Havilland, who was played by Catherine Zeta-Jones (in a bewilderingly bad performance given Czj's talent!), is suing Ryan Murphy and FX for the unauthorized use of her identity! She definitely did not like being portrayed on the bitchy side. Her lawyer says:

...the FX series puts words in the mouth of Miss de Havilland which are inaccurate and contrary to the reputation she has built over an 80-year professional life, specifically refusing to engage in gossip mongering about other actors in order to generate media attention for herself."

While Bette Davis's daughter B.D. (played by Kiernan Shipka) and one of Joan Crawford's twin girls Catherine (played by Chelsea Summer) are still alive, Olivia is the only celebrity portrayed in Feud: Bette vs Joan who
