The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the country’s foremost civil rights organization, extends their deep gratitude to Rosario Dawson for her support and promotion of their Solar Equity Initiative and Go Solar in Your Community pledge.

Dawson – a prolific producer, actress, singer, and political activist for women’s rights and environmental justice, recorded a video to stand in her place at NAACP’s Image Awards on January 15, 2018. An NAACP Image Award winner, Dawson recorded Live from the Art, Culture and Social Action festival, Into Action, where she made the connection between the degradation of the environment and communities and populations who are hit first and worst by the extractive energy economy, namely communities of color and indigenous communities, low-income communities, women, formerly-incarcerated persons, and other groups.

Kristanna Loken On The Crime Thriller Black Rose, Uwe Boll And More

Actress Kristanna Loken has established herself as one to call when you need a tough woman who can kick ass, something she established in the 1999 TV series Mortal Kombat: Conquest, followed with playing the T-x in 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. After making a couple movies with the infamous Uwe Boll including Bloodrayne, Loken got the role to play Painkiller Jane in the 2007 Sci-Fi Channel show based on the comics.

While she seemingly hasn’t been as visible in recent years, she can now be seen in the crime-thriller Black Rose, a Russian-American collaborative film that’s finally hitting these shores. It’s directed by, and stars, Russian bodybuilder Alexander Nevsky as a Russian super-cop who is brought to L.A. to help solve the murders of a few Russian women there. He’s partnered with profiler Emily Smith (Loken) as they try to find clues to find the ruthless killer.

‘Black Rose’ DVD Review

Stars: Alexander Nevsky, Kristanna Loken, Adrian Paul, Robert Davi, Robert Madrid, Matthias Hues, Oksana Sidorenko, Emmanuil Vitorgan, Olga Rodionova, Polina Butorina | Written by Brent Huff, George Saunders | Directed by Alexander Nevsky

So let me get this straight; we have a brand-new direct to DVD film, the second feature from star/director Alexander Nevsky, who’s been dubbed the “Russian Schwarzenegger”, that is exec produced (and apparently re-written) by Sheldon Lettich, the writer/director of Awol, Double Impact and Only the Strong, and who also wrote Rambo 3 and Bloodsport. Not only that, the film stars a who’s who of 90s action including Adrian Paul, Robert Davi and – surprise, surprise – villainous action movie stalwart Matthias Hues. And… it comes from the writing team of Brent Huff, writer/director of the awesome 90s action flick The Bad Pack, which also starred Robert Davi; and George Saunders, who penned Bloodsport 4 and co-wrote the

Highlander Reboot Will Start a Trilogy, Gets Compared to John Wick

Highlander Reboot Will Start a Trilogy, Gets Compared to John Wick
Back in November, Summit Entertainment brought on John Wick and John Wick 2 director Chad Stahelski to direct their long-gestating Highlander remake, which has been in various forms of development since Summit picked up the rights to the franchise back in 2008. Directors such as Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intruders) and Cerdric Nicolas-Troyan (The Huntsman: Winter's War) had been attached to direct over the years, and at one point, Ryan Reynolds was even attached to star, before dropping the project in 2013, which is interesting since Chad Stahelski is also directing Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2, taking over for the departing Tim Miller. Now the gestating remake seems to be on the right track, with the director revealing that he's not only developing one movie, but he's starting to put a trilogy together.

Collider caught up with Chad Stahelski while he was promoting John Wick 2, in theaters

‘Apocalypse Pompeii’ Review

Stars: Adrian Paul, Jhey Castles, Georgina Beedle, John Rhys-Davies, Dylan Vox, Dan Cade | Written by Steve Bevilacqua, Jacob Cooney, Bill Hanstock | Directed by Ben Damaree

We all know that those lovely folks over at The Asylum have a reputation for churning out low-budget, cash-ins of whatever the latest franchise or flavour of the month has currently hit the cinemas. From Transformers to The Avengers, you can be count on an Asylum production rearing its ugly head. That’s why I find it a tad confusing that Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii got the Asylum treatment in the form of Ben Damaree’s imaginatively titled Apocalypse Pompeii. Did anyone even care for the original film? If this isn’t going to be the red headed step child, I don’t what is.

Actually, I quite like redheads…

To cut a long story short, the film follows Jeff Pierce (Paul), a successful security firm owner,

American Horror Story: examining the real lost colony of Roanoke

David Crow Sep 23, 2016

The backdrop to American Horror Story season 6, our Us chums look at the lost colony of Roanoke, its myths and pop culture appearances...

In case you missed it, the American Horror Story season 6 theme has been revealed, and it is a bloody Roanoke Nightmare indeed. After promoting the new season without releasing a single frame of footage, the ever-cryptic Ryan Murphy has now unveiled his true crime satire-meets-American Gothic to a surprised public, leading many to wonder… what is Roanoke again?

Despite a misconception in some quarters that the name infamously tied to the words “Lost Colony” was made up for the series, and that this fictional ghost story was set in Virginia (Roanoke is in present day North Carolina), Roanoke is indeed a real place, and the ghost stories around it are every bit as strange—if not stranger—than anything American Horror Story has dreamed up.

Teen Wolf season 5 episode 18 review: The Maid Of Gevaudan

Teen Wolf takes a page out of the Highlander TV series' book in a time-travelling episode that takes the action to 18th century France...

This review contains spoilers.

5.18 The Maid Of Gevaudan

One of my favourite shows of all time is the TV series Highlander. It takes the Russell Mulcahy original and builds it into something a little less horrifying, a lot less dramatic, and a lot more amusing. Highlander is a show split between two time periods, one the 'modern' 90s and the other some random historical epoch, with Adrian Paul poncing about in ropy costumes while trying not to act like a modern person. After all, he's supposed to be an Immortal with a thousand years of history to inform his decisions. It's far from the best TV ever, but it's a whole lot of fun, and this week's episode of Teen Wolf wouldn't be

'Strike Back' star Philip Winchester: 'Maybe I'm just stupid enough to enjoy it'
Tomorrow night at 10, Cinemax premieres the final season of "Strike Back," the rip-roaring buddy action drama about a pair of soldiers working for an elite British special forces unit. In the four seasons of its Cinemax incarnation (one season aired first in England, with an entirely different cast led by Richard Armitage), it's been a pleasure to watch: always smarter, more technically proficient, and just plain better than it ever needed to be. Now it's coming to an end, with a new season that kicks off in Thailand and features guest stars like Michelle Yeoh Dustin Clare, Adrian Paul and Will Yun Lee running into our returning heroes, straight-laced English soldier Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and his carousing American partner Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton). I've seen the first four episodes, and while there are a few narrative hiccups — some of them caused because production was disrupted and delayed by a

‘Mankind’s Last Stand’ Review

Stars: Adrian Paul, Brandon Auret, Reiley McClendon, Rick Ravanello, Douglas Tait, Joe Reegan, Nic Rasenti, Andy Davoli, Matthew Holmes, Sven Ruygrok, Scott E. Miller, Kenneth Fok, Darron Meyer | Written by Jabbar Raisani, Blake Clifton | Directed by Jabbar Raisani

Jabbar Raisani, a former visual effects maestro, who here turns director – makes his feature debut with a film that mixes a myriad of stereotypes and cliches of the alien invasion genre with the modern war movie (there’s a very good reason the film is described as Independence Day meets Black Hawk Down) in a faux-documentary that sees a camera crew join an elite unit of soldiers at Outpost 37, the most hostile region of what remains of our planet, as they face one of their greatest battles against the “Heavies” alien intruders who, a decade earlier, had invaded Earth with the intention of total annihilation.

Also known as Outpost 37 and Alien Outpost,
