Cinepocalypse 2018 Review: Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich

As a lifelong fan of the Puppet Master franchise, there was probably no movie I was looking forward to more at this year’s Cinepocalypse genre film festival than Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, technically the 12th Puppet Master movie but one of only two (alongside Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys) to take place outside of the continuity established in the original Full Moon franchise. My excitement level wasn’t hurt by the fact that the movie has a script by S. Craig Zahler, a score by Fabio Frizzi, and a cast that includes Barbara Crampton, Tom Lennon, Michael Paré, and Udo Kier. This promised to be the best Puppet Master yet, and my anticipation could not have been any higher.

And then I saw the movie... That’s too harsh. It’s my own fault for being really hyped up about the movie, which has sounded so fascinating on

Terrible Trailer for Low Budget Sci-Fi Thriller 'Astro' Filmed in Roswell

"What would you do if your child was from another galaxy?" File this under "Don't Watch", which means you'll probably watch it any just to see how bad it is. An official trailer has debuted for an indie sci-fi feature titled Astro, and it looks terrible in every single way. The story is about some billionaire's space exploration program bringing back an alien from another planet, or something like that. The film's cast includes Gary Daniels, Marshal Hilton, Courtney Akbar, Max Wasa, Louis Mandylor, and Michael Paré. This trailer is a mess, the CGI is horrible, I don't even know what's going on. This site also describes it nicely: "A Bland Uninspired Sci-Fi Mess." Brian Steele Medina of Gemini Syndrome, composed the music and sound FX for the trailer, which also features the unreleased track "We Are the Fallen" written by the alternative metal band. The original score is composed by Erick Schroeder.

The Virgin Suicides

Sofia Coppola’s first feature film is a head-swirling poetic essay about adolescent angst and terminal self-destruction in suburbia, where some families are unbalanced, others are dysfunctional and some are just plain toxic. Coppola sticks close to the source book, looking for visuals to express author Jeffrey Eugenides’ solution-challenged mystery, narrated by a composite group of teenaged boys.

Film Review: ‘Gangster Land’

Film Review: ‘Gangster Land’
Timothy Woodward Jr. was born too late. Clearly the kind of enterprise that enabled this actor-turned-director to make no less than 13 features in the last five years for his own production company would’ve been ideally deployed in a “golden age” Poverty Row studio. And had they too existed back then, such reduced former A-listers as Tom Sizemore, Dolph Lundgren, Kris Kristofferson and Denise Richards probably still would have sooner or later found themselves toiling in Woodward Jr.’s joints, all low-budget actioners of one sort or another.

His latest is ambitious in the sense of being a period piece, something it pulls off with reasonable, resourceful aplomb even if the script (among other things) is too generic to result in anything more memorable than a passable time-filler. “Gangster Land” is not exactly good. But at least it’s farther along on the road to good than such prior Status Media efforts as “Gnome Alone” and the mysteriously

Cinedigm has released an official trailer for a new crime thriller titled Gangster Land, from director Timothy Woodward Jr., of the western film Hickok also being released this year. It tells the story of Capone's rise, but through the the eyes of McGurn. Milo Gibson (one of Mel's sons) plays Capone, and the full cast includes Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Peter Facinelli, Michael Paré, Jason Patric, Don Harvey, Mark Rolston, and Al Sapienza. As the interview commences, and Jack’s fate hangs in the balance, Amanda must determine whether or not a stay of execution should be granted.

Every once in a blue moon a movie comes along toting a veteran actor who you can’t help but wonder how they got roped into such low-profile, amateurish garbage. Enter American Violence which somehow has Bruce Dern in it. Granted, he is only in the movie for roughly a combined 10 minutes, but still, it’s sad watching him reduced to such bargain bin quality after Quentin Tarantino gave

‘Bellflower’ Team Returns in First Teaser for ‘Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins’

Premiering six years ago, almost to this date, at the Sundance Film Festival, Bellflower emerged as one of the most impressive indie features of 2011. A rough-and-tumble, low-budget production that was refreshingly difficult to categorize, we’ve been waiting to see what director-writer-producer-editor-star Evan Glodell would be taking on next. Arriving this summer is the latest film from Glodell’s Coatwolf Productions, Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins, and now the first teaser has arrived.

While it’s not directed by Glodell — that duty goes to Jonathan Keevil (composer, editor, and producer on Bellflower) — he stars in the film, which takes a more genre approach than their last project. Upping their scale, it’s set in a futuristic world where our titular heroes must save the planet. With impressive visuals, mixing very different styles, we’re looking forward to this videogame-influenced adventure.

Check out the trailer below for the film also starring Tyler Dawson,
