Participant Media and Dreamworks Pictures released the first trailer for Green Book, the based-on-a-true-story drama directed by Peter Farrelly, the filmmaker's first project outside the bounds of comedy. The film, which will premiere at Tiff 2018, is top-lined by a magnetic pair of leading men, Viggo Mortensen and recent Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali. It's hard to know exactly what to expect from a racially charged period piece from the director of both Dumb and Dumber and Dumb and Dumber To, but early word is that the film is fantastic. To be fair, you …

The idea of a road trip bringing about some kind of life-changing experience in characters is quite the cliché on the big screen. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be done well. First Trailer for 'Green Book' with Viggo Mortensen & Mahershala Ali

"You never win with violence. You only win when you maintain your dignity." Universal has debuted an excellent first trailer for Green Book, an Amblin production directed by Peter Farrelly, making his solo directorial debut (with a drama) after directing numerous hit comedies with his brother Bobby. Green Book is about a bouncer at a New York nightclub who takes on a job as a pianist's chauffeur during a tour in the Deep South in the 1960s. The title is a reference to the "Negro Motorist Green Book", an annual guidebook for African-American roadtrippers, commonly referred to simply as the Green Book. Mahershala Ali stars as Don Shirley, with Viggo Mortensen as Tony Lip, and the cast includes Linda Cardellini, Don Stark, P.J. Byrne, Brian Stepanek, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Iqbal Theba. This looks fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing it mostly for Mortensen and Ali's relationship in here. Two of my favorite actors.

Amazon’s The Lord Of The Rings TV Series Finds Its Writing Team

Surely I’m not alone in thinking that Amazon is going to have a rough go of it rebooting The Lord of the Rings for TV. After all, Peter Jackson’s cinematic trilogy did earn close to $3 billion at the worldwide box office, and a ten-figure gamble is a risky undertaking no matter how you frame it. Simply put, restarting such a successful and beloved franchise won’t be easy, especially when the driving force behind said triumph will not be involved.

Nonetheless, Amazon Studios took the first step toward production earlier today during the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour. Jennifer Salke, the newly-appointed head of the electronic commerce subsidiary, announced that John D. Payne and Patrick McKay have been officially tasked with penning The Lord of the Rings television series.

In a press release, Salke disclosed that finding the correct personnel to shepherd the project was “a very thoughtful process,

Oscars 2019: Universal Studios bags bragging rights to ‘First Man,’ ‘Green Book,’ ‘Welcome to Marwen’
Last year Universal brought the blockbuster “Get Out” to the Oscars where it prevailed with one of its four bids (Best Original Screenplay). This year, the studio has three strong contenders, one of which reunites “La La Land” writer/director Damien Chazelle with that film’s leading man Ryan Gosling.

They are making “First Man,” the first film to chronicle the life and times of Neil Armstrong, the astronaut who was the first to walk on the moon. It will take one small step for man and one giant leap into theaters on October 12, 2018, right in the midst of the fall awards season.

La La Land” reaped a record-tying 14 Oscar bids in 2017 and won six including Best Director for Chazelle but infamously fell short of Best Picture in the envelope mix-up heard ’round the world. Gosling earned a Best Actor nomination, as he also did 10 years prior for his role
