Keanu Reeves Talks John Wick 3: Parabellum - The Meaning of its New Subtitle and Halle Berry's Character

Apparently John Wick: Chapter 3 has a new subtitle. Keanu Reeves confirms that the movie is going to be called John Wick 3: Parabellum and in a recent interview with Comingsoon, he explains the meaning of the new subtitle. He also talks a little bit about Halle Berry's character, Sofia.

When asked to clarify the film's title, Reeves' said, "It’s both! John Wick 3: Parabellum." He is then asked what "Parabellum" refers to and he explains:

"Prepare for war. It’s part of that famous sentence, 'Si vis pacem, para bellum,' which translates as, 'If you want peace, prepare for war.'"

The title obviously fits the franchise and everything that John Wick has gone through. The actor is then asked about Berry's character and how she enhances Wick. We don't know much about the character, but we do know that she's not a villain, she's a woman on a mission.

Keanu Reeves Announces Official John Wick 3 Title

Keanu Reeves Announces Official John Wick 3 Title
Keanu Reeves has revealed the official title for John Wick 3. The first entry in the franchise was simply titled John Wick, with the sequel going with the title of John Wick: Chapter 2. With that, it was assumed that the third movie in the trilogy would follow suit and be subtitled Chapter 3. That's not the case, as Keanu Reeves has revealed that the official title for next year's finale is titled John Wick 3: Parabellum.

While it may not seem like much, this title is actually pretty revealing. During a recent interview, Keanu Reeves not only made the title reveal, but he also explained a bit of the meaning behind it. ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’ Blu-ray Review (Criterion)

Stars: Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, Anjelica Huston | Written by Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach | Directed by Wes Anderson

“This is an adventure.” That’s the last spoken line of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, the fourth feature from everyone’s favourite Texan oddball, Wes Anderson. Released in 2004, three years after the highly acclaimed The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic was easily Anderson’s highest-budget film up to that point, and it was met with indifference both critically and commercially. I’ve always found this unusual because I regard it not only as Anderson’s best film, but also the most quintessentially Andersonian.

Zissou (Bill Murray) himself is clearly modelled on the naval explorer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau, right down to the red bobble hat. The film opens with the death of Steve’s lifelong friend, Esteban (Seymour Cassel), in the jaws of a jaguar shark.

Robert Zemeckis to Tackle Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’ for Warner Bros.

Back in 1990, Nicolas Roeg directed an adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Witches, a children's dark fantasy tale about an orphaned boy who discovers that witches do indeed exist in his world. The Jim Henson Company production earned a BAFTA nomination for Christine Beveridge's horrifyingly fantastic make-up work which transformed Anjelica Huston into the Grand High Witch. Roeg's version changed quite a bit from Dahl's 1983 tome, but the story will get another shot at the big screen now that Robert Zemeckis is about to sign on as writer and director for Warner Bros.
