Mini Bio (1)

Jennifer Love Hewitt was born in Waco, Texas, to Patricia Mae (Shipp), a speech-language pathologist, and Herbert Daniel Hewitt, a medical technician. She has English, Italian, French, Scottish, and German ancestry. She got her first name from her older brother Todd Daniel Hewitt (b. November 8, 1970), who picked the name after a little blonde girl he then had a crush on. Her mother selected Jennifer's middle name, Love (which she goes by offstage), from her best friend at college. Her parents separated when she was six months old. She was raised by her mother in Harker Heights, Texas. She made her official performing debut at age 3 where she sang at a livestock show. At age 5, she was taking tap, jazz, and ballet lessons which led her to joining the Texas Show Team, which toured the Soviet Union and Europe. At age 10, the family moved to L.A. with the encouragement of talent scouts, while Todd stayed behind to finish high school in Texas. Jennifer quickly found commercial work and a role on Disney's Kids Incorporated (1984) in 1989. She went through a series of television flops before finally hitting it big on Party of Five (1994) in 1995.

Personal Quotes (10)

[In a Playboy interview, Love commented about her breasts] I just accepted them as a great accessory to every outfit.
When I came to Los Angeles, it was the first time that I ever felt like I belonged somewhere. Not because it was wacky, but because people here understood what I felt like to perform, and there were other kids my age who wanted to do it. I didn't get looked at as, "God, you freak".
I don't consider myself a great dresser either. But I try. Most of the time, I'm in khakis and a white T-shirt. I'm a total Gap girl. Super casual, hair in a pony tail and no makeup. - in response to being voted as one of the Worst Dressed by People magazine.
We had this joke on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). All the girls wore tiny tops, so we called it "I Know What Your Breasts Did Last Summer".
I try to find things that are insanely cheap and brilliant. My Bonne Bell lip gloss is about 75 cents, and I have worn it as my lipstick to almost every main event in Hollywood in the past two years.
I would just love once to be called sexy. Just because it would make me something other than cute.
I'm not a person who naturally loves to wake up in the morning and go "Yeah, I'm going to work out for five hours - wooh!" Like, that's not my thing. I'm from Texas. I like to eat carbs. I like to chill out with my friends and do anything but 150 push-ups and sit-ups.
[May 2018] I just have to apologize for how wrecked I look in all the pictures that have come out. I was literally melting. By the time I got to the red carpet, I was honestly melting. My hair was flat, my makeup was running off my face and I looked like I had completely forgotten I was an actress in this business who is supposed to look [perfect] when you step on the red carpet.
Gene Hackman and I - he doesn't smoke either - and he and I had to learn to smoke together. I think they were Honey Rose herbal cigarettes. It was just the two of us sitting together and practicing together. (laughs) That would be a great DVD extra.
[on interviewers focusing on her body when she was younger] I definitely look back on it and go, Ew. And it really started with I Know What You Did Last Summer, because that was the first time that I had worn a low top ... At a press junket for I Know or I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, I remember purposely wearing a T-shirt that said 'silicone free' on it because I was so annoyed, and I knew something about boobs was gonna be the first question out of [reporters'] mouths.
