Megan Fox and her boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, attended a Halloween party in Los Angeles with coordinated costumes, inspired by the anime series Death Note.
Mgk, whose real name is Colson Baker, took on the role of Ryuk, while Megan embraced the appearance of a red apple as his symbol of the “forbidden fruit.”
Mgk adopted an all-black ensemble for the event that included a fitted, long-sleeved shirt, combat boots, a brown leather belt and ornate green and black feathers on his shoulders. He restyled his characteristic platinum blond hair into a spiky raven wig and painted his face white with yellow and black around the eyes, cheeks and mouth. He further accessorized with gloves and leather pieces that featured long nails on his fingertips.

Already widely mocked on social media, SAG-AFTRA’s infamous Halloween costume guidance received more drubbing on Saturday Night Live.
In a trick-or-treating skit, SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, played by SNL‘s Sarah Sherman, explained the controversial rules that ban members from wearing costumes from studio movies and live-action TV series during the strike and presented safe alternatives for kids.
Calling kids dressed like Barbie, Spider-Man and Black Panther “a bunch of adorable scabs,” Sherman as Drescher introduced other costumes: “Harry Potter as described only in the books,” “minor characters from the Bible who have not appeared in any movie or TV adaptations” and daytime and reality personalities.
Late-night also is exempt from the SAG-AFTRA strike which is why SNL is on during the work stoppage.
Drescher (Sherman) also explained how “with small adjustments,” any costumes can be made strike-friendly.

SAG-AFTRA has now gone on strike for more than 100 days, making it the longest strike ever in SAG-AFTRA history.
On Wednesday, Mean Girls’ Lizzy Caplan and Star Trek‘s Zachary Quinto were spotted chatting as they marched along with the other SAG-AFTRA picketers in New York City.
A couple of days before, he posted an Instagram video expressing his thoughts on the SAG-AFTRA strike and encouraging members to join the picket line and stand strong with their union.
“Solidarity is the only way that we are going to get what we are asking for in this negotiation,” Quinto said.
Quinto returned to the picket line on Thursday and shortly after arriving home, posted another video on Instagram, continuing his encouragement for members and non-members to “show up.”
“This negotiation will determine the future of our industry for years to come,” he said. “It will define your ability to provide for your families.

Melissa Gilbert, the former president of SAG-AFTRA from 2001-2005, thinks that SAG-AFTRA’s new Halloween guidelines are ridiculous.
On Thursday, the Little House on the Prairie star called out the guild and its leaders for their “infantile” stance on Halloween costumes as the actors’ strike continues.
Alongside an image of a Hollywood Reporter story about the guild’s rules, Gilbert wrote on Instagram, “This is what you guys come up with? Literally, no one cares what anyone wears for Halloween. I mean, do you really think this kind of infantile stuff is going to end the strike? We look like a joke.”
She continues, “Please tell me you’re going to make this rule go away…. and go negotiate! For the love of God, people are suffering mightily and this is what you have to say… c’mon.”

SAG-AFTRA just found itself in hot water with its own union members over recently published Halloween costume guidelines. Earlier in the week, the union issued a statement on its official website asking members to avoid wearing popular Halloween costumes this year. The guild explained that dressing in the likeness of characters owned by studios like Disney and Netflix counts as free marketing. The guidelines essentially ban characters that are sure to be popular costumes this year, like Barbie, Harley Quinn, and Wednesday Addams. SAG-AFTRA also asked members to avoid posting Halloween pictures to social media if they include characters owned by struck employers. There was immediate backlash to the guidelines, and now A-listers are speaking out against them.

With the SAG-AFTRA strike appearing extremely unlikely to end before Halloween, actors have seen their costume options restricted. A leaked memo from the guild advised actors not to wear costumes with ties to specific film and TV characters — even from franchises that they have no involvement with — to avoid giving the appearance of promoting work from struck companies.
“Let’s use our collective power to send a loud and clear message to our struck employers that we will not promote their content without a fair contract,” the memo read.
While the guidelines only apply to actors who plan to make public appearances or post on social media for Halloween, many still saw the advice as excessive. Former Screen Actors Guild president Melissa Gilbert took to her personal Instagram account to criticize the rules, dismissing them as an unhelpful distraction.

Ryan Reynolds, Your Kid’s No Scab; Turns Out SAG-AFTRA’s Studio Halloween Costume Ban Is Adults Only
There will be peace in Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s house after all this Halloween.
None of the Green Lantern co-stars’ children will be labeled scabs by their father while they trick or treat, thanks to costume guidance clarification by SAG-AFTRA this evening.
“SAG-AFTRA issued Halloween guidance in response to questions from content creators and members about how to support the strike during this festive season,” a Guild spokesperson said Friday as the de facto ban on costumes was widely mocked and derided. “This was meant to help them avoid promoting struck work, and it is the latest in a series of guidelines we have issued.”
“It does not apply to anyone’s kids,” SAG-AFTRA is now stating.
“We are on strike for important reasons, and have been for nearly 100 days. Our number one priority remains getting the studios back to the negotiating table so we can get a fair deal for our members,...

SAG-AFTRA wants members to know that come Halloween, their children won’t shouted at and called scabs if they decide to dress as their favorite movie and TV characters.

SAG-AFTRA has issued a statement, indeed a clarification, on its Halloween costume rules for striking actors, which has been much discussed online since The Hollywood Reporter first posted about the rather strict-sounding guidelines Wednesday.
No, the guild isn’t backing off its rules, which state that card-carrying actors should stick to generic costume ideas (such as “ghost, zombie, or spider”), rather than specific characters which might inadvertently promote a struck studio’s content (e.g. most of filmic pop culture).
But late Friday, the guild sent the following explanation/clarification: “SAG-AFTRA issued Halloween guidance in response to questions from content creators and members about how to support the strike during this festive season. It’s the spotlight Fran Drescher turned out, unexpectedly, to be born for.
Speaking at a press conference announcing the actors strike Thursday, the SAG-AFTRA president, still known best for her winsome and haphazardly charming protagonist of the sitcom “The Nanny,” looked stricken. Speaking at first deliberately and then with increasing passion, Drescher narrated her union’s attempt, initially, to avoid a strike, and then what she cast as the dawning realization that action was required.
It was a performance with build and emotional heft, culminating in an appeal to labor across the world: “This is a moment of history that is a moment of truth,” she declared — and if that reads a bit awkwardly on the page, well, you should have heard how she delivered it.
She continued to excoriate “big business, who care more about Wall Street than you and your family.” On “you,” she gestured out into the audience; on “your family,...

Hill Harper is joining a crowded field of candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in Michigan for an open U.S. Senate seat.
Harper, regular on The Good Doctor and previously part of the cast of CSI: NY, said in his campaign announcement, set up as if he is delivering a message to his son, that “at the core of too much of this are politicians in office that don’t really care about people.”
“I believe that our government should work for the people, be a force for good, and protect our freedoms, and that won’t happen if we keep electing the same type of people to office.”
We can all feel it: D.C just isn’t getting things done for people.
We need representatives who'll take on special interests, get money out of politics, and make our government work for all of us.

During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the entertainment industry completely shut down. But as time progressed and we learned more about how the virus operates, Covid specialists were brought onto projects to help keep filming safe. Around this time, Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert got the opportunity to audition for a television series filming in Canada, but she ultimately decided to turn it down. Here’s why.
Melissa Gilbert didn’t want to be away from husband Timothy Busfield
The producers of the television show wanted to bring Gilbert in for an audition, but if she got the role, she’d have to film in Canada for several months.
“I wouldn’t be allowed to visit home at all because of quarantine rules,” she wrote in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie. “Tim would soon be filming his show For Life in New York City and...

Not too long before the Covid-19 pandemic, Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert and her husband thirtysomething actor Timothy Busfield bought a little cabin in the Catskills. When March 2020 came, the home acted as a safe haven for the couple. Along with playing wiffle ball and raising chickens, gardening is something Gilbert got really into. Of her bountiful harvest, her cucumbers-turned-pickles were among her favorites.
The types of cucumbers Gilbert planted
Gilbert’s garden was overflowing with goodies throughout the course of the Covid-19 pandemic. But the first vegetables to be ready for picking were the cucumbers.
“I had planted a mix of English and Boston pickling cucumbers, the latter especially for making sour pickles,” she wrote in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie. “They were short and firm, their skin much thinner than their longer, more traditional English cousins. I brought in a ton of them. They...

Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert and husband thirtysomething actor Timothy Busfield rode out the Covid-19 pandemic in a small cabin in the Catskills (where they still live today). When Busfield got his first acting job following March 2020, the couple faced their first Covid scare. Here’s what happened.
Back to work with Covid safety protocols
Busfield had been cast in For Life before the pandemic. It was one of the first shows to begin production again amid the virus. Gilbert wrote about her husband’s return to work in her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie.
“Tim had been on several Zooms regarding safety protocols and received numerous emails updating procedures,” she wrote. “Everybody got tested. Their temperatures were taken. The crew was masked and shielded. Each set was sterilized overnight and then sealed. If the seal was broken before production the next day, they were going to...

Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield have been married for 10 years. Today, the actors live a peaceful life together in the Catskills. But, as with every relationship, the couple has experienced a few “speed bumps” in their union along the way.
Four months of couples therapy helped Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield through a rough patch
In Gilbert’s 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie, the former Laura Ingalls actor writes that she and Busfield were “a perfect match.” But there was one point in their marriage where “some old stuff” started to come up for the couple. This occurred shortly after they made the move to New York from Michigan.
“It reared its ugly head, which we recognized immediately and dealt with by seeing a wonderful marriage counselor, whose office was about fifteen blocks from our apartment,” wrote Gilbert. “We saw her once a week for three or four months, and...

Melissa Gilbert had to handle her fair share of animals as Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. But, apparently, it’s something she does in her real life as well. In her 2022 memoir, Back to the Prairie, the actor goes into her relationship with animals, including one story she shared about saving a bird from her cat with killer instincts.

Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert has been married three times. If you asked her at the time of each marriage, she’d probably say each one was for love. But she found herself in love and with “limited funds” in her third marriage with Timothy Busfield.

After Gilbert and Busfield got married in 2013, they lived together in a modest home in Michigan, Busfield’s home state. In 2019, they bought a rundown “cabbage” (Gilbert’s word for the home combining cottage and cabin) in the Catskills to fix up. Especially after their respective divorces from their previous partners, Gilbert and Busfield found themselves needing to be extra smart with their money. The former Laura Ingalls actor couldn’t help but notice a stark difference in herself and some of her peers in the industry.

Even after the couple’s honeymoon phase, Gilbert “reveled in the respect” her third husband showed her. She knew from the beginning that their love was different from her past relationships. But it seems Busfield was different, too.
“Before Tim, I always felt like I had to make my own abilities and accomplishments smaller to allow the men I was with to feel confident, bigger, macho, and in control,” wrote Gilbert. “Tim was different. Instead of feeling threatened by a strong, outspoken, capable woman, he encouraged me to meet each day fearlessly.

Not long after her divorce from Boxleitner, Gilbert hopped right back on the dating horse. She started seeing someone who wasn’t a good fit for her. She bought a new convertible. And she did what she could to appear younger than she was.
Around that time, she was invited to compete on Dancing With The Stars, an experience she looks back on negatively, calling it “the ultimate spray-tan-glitter-fake-hair-fake-everything festival of falsity.

Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert competed on Dancing With The Stars in March 2012 as part of the Season 14 cast. Her partner was Maksim Chmerkovskiy, whom she still ‘gets along with “adores” to this day. But she has complicated feelings about the show itself. The Laura Ingalls actor was on DWTS during a time when she was on the cusp of learning who the real Melissa Gilbert is. And, as it turns out, DWTS doesn’t agree with the real Melissa Gilbert.

When Little House on the Prairie actor Melissa Gilbert and husband Thirtysomething actor Timothy Busfield bought a small home in the Catskills, it wasn’t much to look at. But what was interesting about the cabin was that the previous owners had seemingly up and left all of their previous belongings — from cereal in the cupboards to shampoo in the shower. Still, that didn’t scare off Gilbert and Busfield. They bought the “little house” and made it into their own special haven.
