Godzilla 2 Gets Pushed Back, Shining Sequel Gets a Release Date

Warner Bros. has updated their release calendar with a few key titles being pushed back. They have also bumped up the release of one of their movies coming out this year slightly and given a firm release date for another anticipated sequel they have in the works. While some of these shifts may frustrate fans, they do show signs that the studio has confidence in a few of its big titles coming down the pipeline over the next couple of years.

Starting with the big one, literally. Godzilla 2, the follow-up to Gareth Edwards' 2014 American take on the classic monster franchise, has been delayed by a couple of months. The sequel was slated to arrive on March 22, 2019, but will now arrive in the heart of the summer movie season on May 31, 2019. On the one hand, it's potentially annoying to have to wait that much longer to see Godzilla duking it out with Mothra,

Mark Wahlberg Comes Under Heavy Fire in Mile 22 Trailer

Mark Wahlberg Comes Under Heavy Fire in Mile 22 Trailer
The first trailer for Mile 22 has arrived. This movie continues the strong collaborations between director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg. The pair have previously worked together on movies like Lone Survivor, Patriot's Day and Deepwater Horizon and apparently, they enjoy one another's company, as they're once again hitched to the same cinematic wagon. This time, it's in a gritty, action flick that certainly looks like one of Berg's movies, in that there is a lot of stuff blowing up and it feels like true Wahlberg, given all of the quips and one-liners.

This first trailer for Mile 22 is very much red band, so if you're at work, maybe put on some headphones. There is quite a bit of uncensored violence and language that would make Captain America blush in this footage. As we see in the video, Mark Wahlberg is part of a super secret team called Overwatch that does not exist,

‘Mile 22’ First Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Helms a Rogue International Rescue Mission with Help From Ronda Rousey — Watch

‘Mile 22’ First Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Helms a Rogue International Rescue Mission with Help From Ronda Rousey — Watch
The fourth filmic team-up of director Peter Berg and his frequent star Mark Wahlberg now has an official trailer. “Mile 22” follows James Silva (Wahlberg), an intelligence officer in the CIA’s secretive Overwatch division (based on the real-life paramilitary squad Ground Branch); at last month’s STXfilms CinemaCon presentation, it was revealed that Berg nicknamed the character “the lighthouse,” as he “roots out evil.” Yet Silva also has plenty of swagger: the footage has him lobbing a grenade and declaring himself “a killer who looks like a hero.”

In this first installment of an intended franchise — a sequel, television series, and Vr component are already planned — Silva and his assault rifle-carrying command team travel to Southeast Asia, locate a cop (Iko Uwais) with knowledge that could unleash a radioactive attack, and sneak him to safety before American adversaries intervene. The cast includes John Malkovich, “The Walking Dead” actress Lauren Cohan,

Mark Wahlberg And Lauren Cohan Are Badass Special Ops Agents In Mile 22 Trailer

Mark Wahlberg is in an action film again, and he teaming back up with Lone Survivor director Peter Berg for what should be an entertaining romp. Wahlberg really stars front and center in this first trailer for Mile 22, but there are quite a few names that might put butts in seats for this feature. Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, Ronda Rousey, and John Malkovich are also on board, and as much as I want to shit on this film just off the principal that I'm a bit sick of seeing Marky Mark, I can't say it doesn't look interesting. Check out the trailer and the synopsis for the film below:

In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least-understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport

Friday Night Lights is Great, But Let’s Not Have a New Movie

Neil Calloway isn’t convinced by plans for a new film about High School football…

The news that there is going to be a new Friday Night Lights film should be greeted with trepidation. It’s not the big screen spin-off of the TV series that many hoped for, but although by the time the film is out the book will probably be thirty years old and the film more than fifteen, why go back and scrape the barrel when you’ve already had one film and two TV series out of it?

Hold, on two TV shows? As well as the now iconic show that ran from 2006 to 2011, the book inspired 1993’s Against The Grain, featuring an early role for a young Ben Affleck. One film and two TV shows is enough for any source material, really. Anything else is just greedy.

I’ll put my cards on the table,

David Gordon Green to bring Friday Night Lights back to the big screen

Hg Bissinger’s book Friday Night Lights has already spawned the brilliant 2004 Billy Bob Thornton movie of the same name, plus a superior television series that ran for five seasons, bringing Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Plemons, and Kyle Chandler as the inimitable Coach Eric Taylor, to the attention of the world. Now Variety are reporting that David Gordon Green is being tapped to direct Universal’s fresh adaptation.

Currently wrapping up his reimagining of the Halloween franchise, should Green take to the field, sources say that it won’t be a sequel to Peter Berg’s movie, or in any way linked to the NBC TV series. Universal are seeking a brand new set of characters to base in the high stakes world of Texas college football, and the drama that brings with it.

Hacksaw Ridge and The Quiet American scribe Robert Schenkkan will tackle the adaptation, with Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment producing.
