Asia Argento Turns To Princess Diana Law Firm To Seek “Substantial Damages” Against Rose McGowan — Update
Thursday update, Sept 20: The time was set. The time has passed. Asia Argento has said on Twitter that she is moving ahead with plans to sue Rose McGowan. The actress updated, “I must inform you that I’ve instructed Mishcon de Reya to seek for substantial damages for deception, fraud, coercion and libel. You will hear from them shortly.” Nothing from McGowan’s side yet.

Mishcon de Reya is the blue chip British law firm which has repped clients including Deborah Lipstadt, Jeffrey Archer and Princess Diana. Not much regal about this spat, however.

To @rosemcgowan. The 24hr deadline given to retract your recent false statements about me has now passed. I must inform you & @raindovemodel that I’ve instructed Mishcon de Reya to seek substantial damages for deception, fraud, coercion and libel. You will hear from them shortly.

Trevor Noah, Bruce Miller, & Emmy Men Address Progress Of #MeToo Movement And Voices Of Resistance

The red carpet at this year’s Emmys wasn’t filled with Time’s Up pins, ribbons or other accessories that supported a cause — but that doesn’t mean issues affecting Hollywood weren’t present on the minds of those walking into the Primetime Emmys.

Black-ish star Jennifer Lewis took the carpet in glamorous athleisure Nike wear in support of Colin Kaepernick and one attendee wrote “Stop Kavanaugh” on her arm with a phone number for a hotline. There were also a small smattering of pins that say “I am a voter.” But with Les Moonves, Louis C.K., Asia Argento and Hollywood’s continuing narrative of #MeToo and Time’s Up many of the men on the Emmys red carpet spoke about what that means for the industry and how voices of resistance are necessary.

Daily Show nominee Trevor Noah has always been an ally and has spoken about the

How Kristen Stewart and Laura Dern Tried to Save Low-Budget Tiff Closer ‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’
Closing night in Toronto brought Justin Kelly’s low-budget indie labor of love, “Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy,” which lured two bankable actresses with its twisted but true tale of mistaken author/avatar identity. Dern flew to Toronto from filming “Little Women” and Stewart from the set of “Charlie’s Angels” to help Kelly sell the movie in Toronto. The filmmakers wanted to screen “Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy” to friendly Tiff fans in order to land some upbeat reactions. (Metascore: 63.)

“This is as independent as it can get,” said Dern on the phone from the Tiff press day. “If a distributor gives Justin the time and love he needs to shape it, it’s about being able to finesse a thing we made on a shoestring.”

Clearly, both actresses rolled up their sleeves on set. When extras didn’t arrive in late ’90s-early ’00s period clothing, Dern and Stewart threw T-shirts on them

Sean Penn Says ‘Spirit’ of #MeToo Movement ‘Is to Divide Men and Women’ (Video)
Sean Penn welcomed Natalie Morales of the “Today” show into his home to discuss new Hulu series, “The First,” but the interview became something very different when the topic of conversation shifted to the #MeToo movement.

“I’d like to think that none of it was influenced by what they call the movement of #MeToo,” Penn said of his new show’s plot, which in part centers on strong women leading a mission to Mars in 2030. “I think it’s influenced by the things that are developing in terms of the empowerment of women, acknowledging each other and being acknowledged by men. This is a movement that was largely shouldered by a receptacle of the salacious.”

“We don’t know what’s a fact. In many of the cases it’s salacious,” he explained to Morales when the NBC News host and journalist asked for clarification. “You call something a

Toronto Film Review: ‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’

Toronto Film Review: ‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’
By any reasonable expectation, the casting of Kristen Stewart in the role of Savannah Knoop, the young woman who impersonated the fictional literary sensation Jt LeRoy, which was created by her brother’s unstable girlfriend Laura Albert (Laura Dern), should have been enough of a coup. Stewart’s own prickly relationship with celebrity, her androgynous beauty and embrace of queer identity, would by itself have added more than enough layers of metatextual intrigue to the story of a bisexual woman who pretended to be a bisexual man who was entirely the creation of another woman.

But the timing of Justin Kelly’s film about a literary hoax that exposed the hypocrisy surrounding the idea of authenticity in the publishing world has repercussions that far outstrip the original plan. Uncomfortably thrust into close proximity to the allegations of sexual abuse leveled against #MeToo pioneer Asia Argento, as enjoyable as the film

Rose McGowan Slams Media for Reducing Her ‘Life’s Work to a Hotel Room Rape’
Rose McGowan, the star of “Scream” and “Charmed,” says she refuses to let the media reduce her “life’s work to a hotel room rape” despite the spotlight placed on her harrowing accusations against disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The actress, who has become a leading figure in the #MeToo movement since she accused Weinstein of raping her at a Sundance Film Festival hotel in the late ’90s, told TheWrap that the last year had been marked by extreme highs and lows.

“I had not anticipated the American — and I stress American — press tour being as salacious and triggering as it was,” she said.

Asia Argento’s Accuser Jimmy Bennett Was Accused of Stalking by Ex-Girlfriend

Bennett’s ex-girlfriend filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against the actor in July 2015, according to court documents obtained by People.

A judge granted the petition until a scheduled court hearing in August 2015, but it was dismissed after both parties failed to appear in court, People confirms.

Weinstein Accuser Paula Williams on Why She Scrubbed Her Facebook Page: ‘Did I Say Too Much?’
Right after Paula Williams came forward with her story accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct in 1990, the former model said she quickly scrubbed up her social media accounts.

“I didn’t want to be known as the girl who [came forward about] Weinstein,” she told TheWrap. “That’s not what I want to say. There are so many other things I’d rather say publicly”

She added, “It was a little like, ‘Oh, oh, did I say too much?'”

Williams came forward to ABC’s “20/20” about a week after the New York Times and The New Yorker published their exposés on multiple accusations of sexual misconduct by the Hollywood mogul over decades.

‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’ Film Review: Literary Hoax Makes for a Frustrating Film

‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’ Film Review: Literary Hoax Makes for a Frustrating Film
Justin Kelly’s “Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy,” the closing-night film at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, occupies a difficult slot at the mammoth festival. Tiff’s closing-night films typically don’t go on to enjoy significant commercial or critical success, more often destined for quick obscurity in the U.S. market.

Last year’s closing film, for instance, was the French comedy “C’est La Vie!” Before that, “The Edge of Seventeen” and “Mr. Right” at least made a little noise at the box office, “A Little Chaos” and “Life of Crime” less so.

But there’s good news and bad news for “Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy,” which stars Laura Dern and Kristen Stewart and had its first press screening on Monday in advance of Saturday’s closing-night gala.
