Tony Sokol Oct 18, 2018

Heather Graham entrances ABC with Liane Moriarty’s Hypnotist’s Love Story.

“How do you make a man do something without nagging? That is the billion-dollar question," Liane Moriarty wrote in her novel The Hypnotist’s Love Story. Writing, directing and starring in your own movie might help. Which Heather Graham wrote did for the romantic comedy Half Magic. Graham worked her magic on ABC, which will adapt Moriarty's book into a series, according to Variety.

ABC bought the adaptation as a put pilot. The series is being produced by ABC Studios and David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks of Mandeville Television. Graham will star, and executive produce the series along with Katie Wech (Star), who will write the series.

Graham will play Ellen O’Farrell, a "professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents," according to the book's official synopsis.

Apple Will Reportedly Make Original Video Programming Free For All Device Owners

After hiring former Sony television execs Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg last year, Apple has gone on a content spending spree -- with a reported annual budget of $1 billion to license and develop original shows.

That said, the distribution strategy for the 24 projects that the company currently has in the works has remained something of a mystery -- though a new CNBC report sheds some light. While industry onlookers initially speculated that video efforts might live within Apple's popular music streaming service, Apple Music, recent reports suggest that forthcoming series from Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, and Steven Spielberg will be free for all consumers who own Apple devices -- including iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs.

The content will live in a dedicated app -- an in-the-works revamp of Apple's current ‘TV’ application -- that will not only house Apple’s original content, but channels for other platforms that users can subscribe to,

Natalie Portman on Pay Disparity, Sexual Harassment and What’s Next for Time’s Up

Natalie Portman on Pay Disparity, Sexual Harassment and What’s Next for Time’s Up
Natalie Portman made headlines when she called out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association onstage at the 2018 Golden Globes for nominating an all-male lineup in the best director category. The awards bypassed eligible contenders such as Greta Gerwig and Dee Rees.

Flanked by America Ferrera and social justice activists, Portman also used the show’s red carpet as a platform for protest on behalf of the Time’s Up movement: The carpet was transformed into a sea of black gowns in a show of solidarity with sexual-harassment survivors.

Time’s Up was founded on Jan. 1, just days before the Golden Globes. Nine months later, the anti-sexual harassment group’s legal defense fund has raised over $22 million and has helped more than 34,000 women across all industries — not just in the entertainment business.

“I had been feeling, of course, very upset about all of the allegations that were coming to light in our
