TV Ratings: ‘BH90210’ Finale Down 50% on Premiere

  • Variety
The finale of “BH90210” didn’t exactly provide the cherry on top of the summer ratings cake that Fox was likely hoping for.

Last night’s episode came in at a 0.7 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and was watched by just over 1.9 million total viewers. While that represents a slight up tick in both metrics from last week’s season-low 0.6 rating and 1.89 million viewers, the finale was down more than 50% in both in rating and viewership from the season premiere.

The six-part Fox event series, which features original series cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty all back together again, saw a substantial ratings slide across its run. After debuting to a summer-topping 1.52 rating and just under 4 million total viewers, the series slid around 38% to a 0.95 in week 2, and then 16% to a 0.80 in week three. After a 35% decline

Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth on ‘BH90210’ Finale’s ‘Soapedy’ Cliffhanger, Their ‘Juicy’ Plans for a Season 2
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the finale of “BH90210”)

Fox’s “BH90210,” ended Wednesday, revealing that the show’s “Beverly Hills, 90210” reboot got picked up to series — meaning that in-universe fans of Donna (Tori Spelling), David (Brian Austin Green), Kelly (Jennie Garth), Brenda (Shannen Doherty), Brandon (Jason Priestley), Steve (Ian Ziering) and Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris) will find out what the characters have been up to since the drama ended almost 20 years ago.

But in real life, fans of the meta-revival itself will have to wait to see if Fox orders a second season of “BH90210,” so they can find out what happens next with the “heightened” versions of Spelling, Green, Garth, Doherty, Priestley, Ziering and Carteris and their “90210” characters, who would live on via the reboot inside the show.

While we don’t have an answer for you yet on a renewal, we can tell you that

SAG-AFTRA Presidential Election Challenges Filed, With ‘BH90210’ At Center Of One

  • Deadline
Several protests have been filed challenging the validity of SAG-AFTRA’s recent presidential election, in which incumbent Gabrielle Carteris handily defeated opponents including runners-up Matthew Modine and Jane Austin.

One of the challenges, filed Tuesday by Brian Hamilton, a founder of Membership First, claims that Fox’s current series BH90210 was “a not-so-subtle national commercial” for Carteris’ re-election campaign. The series, which premiered August 7 – nine days after election ballots were mailed to union members – is a reboot of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 featuring cast members, now all grown up, playing fictionalized versions of their real-life selves struggling to get the reboot produced.

The election challenge notes that Carteris, one of the show’s executive producers, plays the “hard-working and concerned” president of the fictionalized “Actors Guild of America.” She and the other leading characters all go by their real-life first names – not the names of the characters they played in the original show.

BH90210 Season 1 Episode 3 Review: The Photo Shoot

Production is back in session!

BH90210 Season 1 Episode 3 saw the gang back together on the set of the all-new Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot. But it didn’t take long for all hell to break loose.

With everyone but Shannen officially on board, it was time for the group to get some therapy. And their therapist knew them all very well.

It’s lovely to see this new version of Beverly Hills, 90210 incorporate past actors into the fold. And bringing them back outside of just reprising their roles in the reboot was genius.

Christine Elise is killing it as the domineering, yet helpful Fox executive. And Carol Potter was a welcome addition as the therapist who was to help the group with their many issues.

The first session went about as well as anyone would expect, with little to no cooperation from anyone and a lot of finger-pointing.

BH90210 Recap: Desperately Seeking Shannen
In a last-ditch effort to get her reboot off the ground, Tori Spelling turned to a pair of Walshes — one far more helpful than the other — on Wednesday’s BH90210.

Plan A was to have Carol Potter (aka Mama Walsh), now a licensed therapist, help the cast work through its issues — everything from the show’s writer getting Jason Priestley’s wife pregnant to Jason having a one-night stand with Jennie Garth in Vegas.

V. C. Andrews' Gates of Paradise Review: Annie and the Horny House of Horrors!

Annie, are you Ok? Are you Ok, Annie?!

Just kidding, Annie Stonewall Tatterton is fine; unlike her mom, she got her man in the end. Technically, it wasn't incest, so it's Ok, you guys!

The fourth installment of the Casteel saga said goodbye to Heaven and brought her equally as hoo-ha motivated inbred daughter, Annie, to the forefront.

Annie is truly her mother's child. She has that Vanvoreen all-consuming fire Jillian drunkenly prattled on about. She has a one-track mind, and that focus is on the D, one in particular.

Her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

Of course, in this case, it was primarily her not-brother and her grandfather, but at infancy, the doctor should have smacked her on the ass and called her a Vanvoreen woman. She has their je ne sais quoi.

Daphne Zuniga Is ‘Totally Open’ to a ‘Melrose Place’ Revival – But Watching to See If ‘BH90210’ Is a Success (Video)
Yes, “Melrose Place” alum Daphne Zuniga is well aware that “Beverly Hills, 90210” fans are psyched that Fox has brought back the beloved ’90s teen soap for meta-revival “BH90210.” And, yes, she’d be down to reprise the role of Jo Reynolds, the character she played on the network’s “90210” spinoff, for a return of “Melrose Place.”

But first she wants to see how this six-episode series goes for Shannen Doherty, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering and Tori Spelling.

“I would be totally open to doing it,” Zuniga told TheWrap in the interview above. “But, you know, we’re gonna watch [‘BH90210’]. I’m gonna watch tonight and we’ll see how it goes. I think the setup is really interesting that they’re playing their characters wanting to do a revival. So I don’t know that we would do that same thing,

TV Ratings: ‘BH90210’ Drops 40%, Loses to ‘Big Brother’ and ‘America’s Got Talent’
After posting the best debut of the summer last week, “BH90210” saw a large dropoff in the ratings this time around.

The revival came in at a 0.9 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, a 40% decrease from last week’s 1.5.

Episode two of the six-part Fox event series, which sees original series cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty all back together again, was watched by 2.57 million total viewers. That represents a 32% decrease on last week’s viewership figure of 3.8 million.

Last week “BH90210” comfortably came top in the Wednesday night rankings, however, this week the show came third overall behind “Big Brother,” which posted a 1.0, and “America’s Got Talent,” which topped the night at a 1.1. The show’s ratings tumble is all the more surprising given that its “Masterchef” lead-in gained on last week, hopping up 10% from a

BH90210 Recap: Can Tori's Reboot Survive That Bloody Twist Ending?

BH90210 Recap: Can Tori's Reboot Survive That Bloody Twist Ending?
Crime may not pay, but reboots sure do! That was the general takeaway from Wednesday’s episode of BH90210, which chronicled Tori Spelling’s desperate attempt to get her former co-stars on board for the new show.

Sure, she was partially motivated by the $100,000 in damages demanded by the owner of her stolen dress — in addition to its “unlaundered” return (barf!) — but she was also inspired by the group’s chemistry. Let’s be honest, not every ’90s TV cast could still make picking up trash in the park look that good.

‘BH90210’ Draws 6.1M Multiplatform Viewers In L+3; Top Summer Series Debut In Demo Since 2017
Last week’s premiere of BH90210 on Fox added 2.3 million sets of eyeball in time-shited viewing, bringing its Live+3 toal to 6.1 million multiplatform viewers. It also drew a 2.1/11 among 18-49, which marked the biggest demo launch for a summer series since 2017.

Fox noted that the BH90210 L+3 demo numbers were 50% better than this summer’s next-best series launches — NBC’s Bring the Funny and Songland (1.4). It also marked Fox’s most-streamed premiere ever.

BH90210 is described as a serialized drama with a dose of irreverence inspired by the real lives and relationships of Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, the septet — who will play heightened versions of themselves — reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running.
