Trailer For The Tell Me A Story Series Gives a Modern Dark Twist on Classic Fairy Tales

The writer of the Scream franchise, Kevin Williamson, brings his signature storytelling style to a new series for CBS All Access called Tell Me a Story. The series is said to take "the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller." Of course, they have to sexy it up a bit as well.

We've got the first trailer for the series that teases a very different take on Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and Hansel and Gretel. The serialized drama is set in New York City and it interweaves these three fairy tales into "an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder."

They're really trying hard to make this series something people will want to watch, but I'm not really sold on it. I'll give it a chance, but only time will tell if it

Tell Me a Story Promo: CBS All Access Goes Dark with Kevin Williamson & Paul Wesley

  • TVfanatic
We've already shared the news that Paul Wesley would be returning to TV in the new Kevin Williamson drama, but the news just gets better from there.

CBS All Access will be providing the home for Tell Me a Story, a straight-to-series drama that takes some beloved fairy tales and skews them into the messed up horror stories they really are.

Because let's be honest, if you have ever taken the time to break down a fairy tale, there is very little about them that is nice. They are cautionary tales for children cast with princes and princesses and talking animals.

Kevin Williamson Returns To Form With ‘Tell Me A Story’, Says “Nothing On TV Like It” – TCA
Based on the new trailer for Kevin Williamson’s upcoming CBS All Access series, Tell Me a Story, it seems like the man who wrote Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and co-created TV’s The Vampire Diaries, is back to horror form with a new modern twist. He even said so himself Sunday during the CBS All Access session at TCA.

“This reminds me a lot of my early days,” said Williamson. “It took me back to another place.”

Williamson’s new New York City-set series is based on an Argentinian series that takes the notion of classic fairytales and all their darkness and interprets them for 2018. Tell Me A Story goes in line with recent “gritty and dark” reboots of shows, and Williamson isn’t too concerned about “grim fatigue.” He said you never know how audiences will react and approached the project with the same

  • The Wrap
CBS debuted the first trailer for the upcoming All Access series “Tell Me a Story” on Sunday, giving a first glimpse into the show’s modern-day update of classic fairy tales.

The series, which comes from “Scream” writer Kevin Williamson, takes the world’s most beloved stories and reimagines each as a cryptic and twisted psychological thriller set in modern-day New York City.

The trailer reveals that the series will be a much darker take on the fairy tales than “Once Upon a Time” and more grounded than NBC’s “Grimm,” instead re-interpreting the stories as real-life adventures.

For example, he appeared in a pilot titled Fabled from Zosia Mamet that has been making the festival rounds in 2018.
