First Official Synopsis Released For Keanu Reeves' John Wick: Chapter 3

As Lionsgate prepares for their presentation this afternoon at CinemaCon, they've released the first officially synopsis for John Wick: Chapter 3. As you might imagine, after the events of Chapter 2, John Wick is on the run after being excommunicated from The Continental with a contract on his head.

This is such an incredibly fun and action-packed franchise and I'm pretty excited to see how this story comes to a close. To think, this whole thing started because some asshat killed John Wick's dog. Here's the synopsis:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston,

John Wick 3 Teaser Poster & Official Synopsis Released

At CinemaCon, Lionsgate released a teaser poster and official synopsis for highly anticipated action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3. For an actor who often gets so much flack about his lack of range, Keanu Reeves has sure played a lot of memorable characters over the years. Reeves will probably forever be most associated with playing unlikely savior Neo in The Matrix, with his two outings as time-traveling slacker Ted “Theodore” Logan in the Bill & Ted franchise running a close second.

Byron Allen Seeks Love for Independent Movie Studios at CinemaCon

Byron Allen Seeks Love for Independent Movie Studios at CinemaCon
Media mogul Byron Allen made a strong pitch to the nation’s theater owners Wednesday to support the independent movie studios — such as his own Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures.

Allen appeared a year after Esmp launched with the shark thriller “47 Meters Down,” which grossed an impressive $44 million domestically last year. He had bought the movie months earlier from Bob Weinstein at his Malibu beach house for $3 million after becoming convinced that shark movies always perform well.

“What we did with ’47 Meters Down,’ we need to do 100 times over,” Allen told attendees at a breakfast event at CinemaCon at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Allen, best known as a producer of syndicated TV programming, established Esmp through the 2015 purchase of Freestyle Releasing. He said Wednesday that Esmp is aiming to fill the niche of releasing mid-budget films that the Big Six studios have become less likely to handle.

‘State Like Sleep’ Review: Katherine Waterston and Michael Shannon Get Lost in a Dreamy Neo-Noir — Tribeca

A narcotized neo-noir that unfolds with the diverting purposelessness of a forgettable dream, Meredith Danluck’s “State Like Sleep” doesn’t really go anywhere, but it lulls you into enough of a stupor to enjoy the time it takes to get there. Much of the credit for that belongs to “The Bling Ring” cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt, who coats the (supposedly) Belgian locations of this dead-end story with a shimmer that makes every beat feel a little more beguiling than it should. The rest might have to go to Katherine Waterston, whose “Alien: Covenant” bowl-cut gets the rousing curtain call it deserves (this film was shot back in the summer of 2016).

The basic details of the story are simple, though Danluck presents them in a pleasantly disorienting fashion. It starts with a Belgian movie star named Stefan Delvoe (“Game of Thrones” actor Michiel Huisman) giving a television interview to promote the

Media Mogul Byron Allen Is Betting Billions on an Empire Anchored by The Weather Channel

Entertainment Studios Motion PicturesByron Allen will take center stage at CinemaCon April 25. He’s scheduled to welcome the National Association of Theatre Owners to the 28,000-square-foot Palace Ballroom for an early breakfast and keynote address.

Unless, you know, he doesn’t.

“I think I’m going to go,” said Allen April 17 from the Culver City set of “Funny You Should Ask.” He produces the gameshow that’s broadcast on his Comedy.TV, one of eight 24-hour networks he owns. That afternoon, he served as audience cheerleader and unofficial director, not only anchoring its quintet of comedian-panelists but also instructing “Baskets” Emmy-winner Louie Anderson and “Saturday Night Live” veteran Jon Lovitz to deliver their set-ups and punchlines again, from the top.

Presuming he does find himself in Vegas, he should find a rapt audience. People want to hear from Allen, if only to figure out what the hell he’s driving at.

‘Accident Man’ DVD Review

Stars: Scott Adkins, Ray Stevenson, Michael Jai White, Ray Park, Ashley Greene, David Paymer, Nick Moran, Tim Man, Ross O’Hennessy | Written by Scott Adkins, Stu Small | Directed by Jesse V. Johnson

Not all comic-book movies have to be about superheroes… or heroes at all for that matter. Case in point: Accident Man. Originally debuting in a series of comic strips in the 90s UK comic Toxic!, Accident Man was created by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner – two legends of the UK comics scene who, beside this character, penned stories or Judge Dredd and ABC Warriors. In fact Mills is one of creators of 2000Ad, a British institution that has already seen success outside of the comics realm, with numerous video games based on characters within its pages and not one but two Judge Dredd movies!

For those not familiar with the Mills and Skinner creation, Mike Fallon is a hitman,

Mel Gibson’s ‘Boss Level’ Lands at Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios
Byron Allen’s growing independent outfit Entertainment Studios picked up U.S. distribution rights for action-thiller “Boss Level.”

The film, starring Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Frank Grillo and Ken Jeong, cost $45 million and is slated for a 2019 wide theatrical release.

Boss Level” is a co-production by Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, Di Bonaventura Pictures, Carnahan and Grillo’s War Party, and Scott Free. Written and directed by “The Grey” and “The A-Team” director Joe Carnahan, “Boss Level” has a “Groundhog Day,” “Edge of Tomorrow” vibe.

The film follows a retired U.S. Army Special Forces veteran (Grillo) trapped in a never-ending loop, resulting in his death every day. In order to stop his endless suffering, he must figure out who is responsible and stop them.

“‘Boss Level’ is a powerful, action-packed, and highly-anticipated theatrical release,” Allen, head of Entertainment Studios said in a statement. “‘Boss Level’ combines non-stop action with an all-star cast, including Frank Grillo, Ken Jeong, Academy Award-winner Mel Gibson, and Academy Award-nominee Naomi Watts. We are thrilled to have director Joe Carnahan at the helm to deliver what we believe will be a blockbuster.”

Allen’s Entertainment Studios has made some noise in Hollywood, picking up theatrical rights to films other studios would otherwise relegate straight to DVD.

The studio bought what would go on to be 2017’s highest-grossing independent movie, “47 Meters Down,” from the Weinstein Co. The film, starring Mandy Moore has grossed over $44 million to date. Most recently Entertainment Studios released the Kennedy mystery-thriller “Chappaquiddick.”

Upcoming releases include the Keanu Reeves sci-fi thriller “Replicas” and an animated feature called “Animal Crackers,” starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

“Byron and I have been friends for over a decade, and my business partner, George Furla, has known Byron for over 30 years since their USC Film School days. We both believe Byron’s passion and taste are second to none,” producer Randall Emmett said in a statement. “The plan for Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures to give ‘Boss Level’ a wide theatrical release gives our film and writer/director Joe Carnahan’s vision exactly what we had hoped for when we put this project together.”

The deal was negotiated by Entertainment Studios’ Head of Acquisitions, Chris Charalambous, and Wayne Marc Godfrey of The Fyzz Facility on behalf of Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.

Exclusive: Scott Adkins on Brutal Comic Book movie Accident Man & why he thinks the Oscars needs a stunt category

The UK comics scene in the 80s was a mixture of playground larks, smart alec troublesome kids, weekly toy advertisements, immaculate footballers and wartime nostalgia. It was boom time for the Beanos, Dandys and many more Saturday morning doormat slappers. But there was a change coming, and spurred on by the noxious odour of Viz and the dystopian adult themes of 2000Ad a new breed of comics came of age in the final decade of the twentieth century.

These new comics catered for kids who had grown up with Dennis the Menace and were ready for something a bit more mature. 1991 was the fateful year, when the Fleetway backed Crisis was joined by 2000Ad man Kevin Mills teaming up with Apocalypse Ltd to bring Toxic! to newspaper shops across the UK. Though these comics didn’t last as long as those whose pages they sat alongside they were potent enough

Animal Cruelty on TV: Fido Has Become the Go-To Victim in Violent Storytelling

Animal Cruelty on TV: Fido Has Become the Go-To Victim in Violent Storytelling
[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers for “Stranger Things,” “The Alienist,” “The Walking Dead,” “End of the F***ing World,” and the “John Wick” films.]

In the season finale of TNT’s “The Alienist,” a serial killer slams a burlap sack containing a cat repeatedly on the wall, killing the cat as it shrieks in pain. On Netflix’s “End of the F***ing World,” a boy kills animals growing up, and several episodes later, a dog is carelessly run over by a truck and must be put out of its misery. In the second season of “Stranger Things,” one character’s cat is found partially eaten by an otherworldly monster. And regularly on shows like “The Magicians” and “Game of Thrones,” animals often perish in horrifying ways.

The depiction of animals being abused or killed isn’t anything new in Hollywood, though for a while, this seemed acceptable to the public as long as those animal

4 Upcoming Non-Blockbuster Films That Deserve Your Excitement

Samuel Brace with four upcoming non-blockbuster films that deserve your excitement…

It’s particularly easy in this business to merely focus on the high profile movies that will make serious dents at the box office, or that will reap the most plaudits come awards season, but to limit one’s attention to only these categories is a mistake. There is far more to cinema than the big blockbusters and “please-love-me” biopics. Marvel and Star Wars occupy a significant amount of our cinematic bandwidth – often for good reason – but their yearly efforts shouldn’t consume every last inch of our attention. With this in mind, I wanted to spend, if you will allow it, my little corner of the internet shedding some light – for those who don’t know – on four upcoming non-blockbuster films that deserve our excitement. These are films outside of the mainstream, these are films that could be hit or miss,

Flashback: Bill and Ted Battle the Grim Reaper by Playing 'Battleship'
The Bill & Ted fan community haven't had it easy over the past couple of decades. The only real content they've gotten to chew on since Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey left theaters in 1991 was the short-lived cartoon series Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures and a disastrous live-action Fox show that aired seven episodes in the summer of 1992 before being forever banished from the memory banks of every single person on the planet.

Making matters worse, series stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter pop up in the press every few months and
