Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Knocks It Out of the Park With His Latest Villain, Cable

Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Knocks It Out of the Park With His Latest Villain, Cable
Whether you love Deadpool 2, hate it, or haven't even seen it yet, I think we can all come together to agree on one thing: Josh Brolin is freakin' great.

After sharing a few sneak peeks of his initially villainous character, Cable, on Instagram over the past handful of months, the superhero sequel finally introduces us to the time-traveling gunslinger. Just like in the comics, Cable sports a hefty scar and cybernetic eye in Deadpool 2, where we see him and Ryan Reynolds's Merc with a Mouth clash a few times before they find common ground. This time around, Cable travels back in time from the future to kill a younger version of a mutant who murders his family decades later. Overall he brings depth and pathos to Cable, just like he did while voicing Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

Before we even knew that the Deadpool sequel was officially a go,

Ron Howard movies: 15 greatest films ranked from worst to best
Sometimes it feels like Ron Howard has been around forever. Although the actor/director is in his 60’s, he’s been a star in TV and movies for over 55 years. From his early days playing Andy Griffith‘s son Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” to his directing of the latest “Star Wars” story, “Solo,” the unassuming Howard still finds himself the center of attention.

Now primarily known as a director, Howard has won two Academy Awards — for producing and directing 2001’s Best Picture winner “A Beautiful Mind” starring Russell Crowe — and has two more nominations to his credit for producing and directing 2008 nominee “Frost/Nixon” starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella.

With “Solo” in theaters, let’s take a photo gallery tour of his 15 greatest feature films, ranked from worst to best. Keep in mind that our gallery strictly focuses on his directing career and leaves out his terrific work as an actor in movies.

Could the Dark Universe rise from the dead? “Monster things” apparently in the works

It’s alive! Or at least, it might be. A recent social media posting from an artist has suggested that Universal might still be searching for life in the rigid corpse of its Dark Universe, hinting at “monster things in the works”.

The wheels have continued to come off the Dark Universe ever since Tom Cruise starrer The Mummy limped to poor critical reviews and a fairly disappointing box office return. It made a decent $409m globally, but only managed a domestic haul of $80m against its $125m budget.

Since then, talent has flitted in and out of the franchise’s movie slate, with Bride of Frankenstein pushed backwards and the screenwriter penning Johnny Depp’s Invisible Man movie stepping aside.

Is Universal's Dark Universe Rising from the Dead?

Those who had high hopes for Universal's Dark Universe may not be totally out of luck, despite the fact that it seemed like the the studio's plans for a monster movie cinematic universe were all but dead. Indeed, some newly surfaced evidence online suggests that the Dark Universe may be on a path to resurrection following the disastrous release of The Mummy last year. Though, we must admit, this isn't exactly a lot to go on.

This bit of Dark Universe hope comes from artist Robert Vargas who recently made quite the interesting post to his Instagram account. Apparently, Vargas had a meeting with some of the folks at Universal who are in charge of what's left of the Dark Universe, whatever that may be. In any case, they may have Vargas do some artwork for them related to "monster things." Here's what Vargas had to say in his post.

John Oliver began Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight by addressing the previous week’s episode, which he jokingly declared was his last. "You might be thinking right now, 'Hey, hold on. The host joked that he went to Australia to work with the koalas, but had to return to do the show. "First, HBO contracts are a little harder to get out of than I originally thought, and second, these horny little fuckers are not as cute as...

Cannes Opener ‘Everybody Knows’ Goes to Focus Features
Focus Features kicked off the Cannes 2018 market by acquiring opening night Competition entry “Everybody Knows,” starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz. The solid Spanish-language melodrama from Iranian writer-director Asghar Farhadi played well Tuesday night to mixed response from critics. UTA and Memento fielded multiple bids for the film — which did not go to Netflix — which screened for buyers ahead of Cannes.

Everybody Knows” is in the running for jury prizes, which could go to Bardem or Cruz; and Spain could submit the film for the Oscars.

Focus will release the taut family kidnap drama in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, select Asian territories, and the Middle East (but not Iran). Focus had previously acquired rights in Spain last year.

Farhadi has two foreign-language Oscar wins, for “A Separation” and “The Salesman.” In the film, Laura (Cruz) and her two children travel from Argentina to

John Oliver Jokingly Quits HBO Show After Russell Crowe Names Koala Chlamydia Ward After Him

John Oliver Jokingly Quits HBO Show After Russell Crowe Names Koala Chlamydia Ward After Him
John Oliver doesn’t see how he can top his latest accomplishment!

After Oliver purchased several items from Russell Crowe’s divorce auction — including paying $7,000 for the jockstrap Crowe wore in Cinderella Man — the 54-year-old actor found an ingenious way to thank the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight for his generosity: by naming a koala chlamydia ward in Australia after Oliver.

Although the actor had initially announced that he would be donating the proceeds from Oliver’s “random act of kindness” to help wildlife in April, he waited to announce the exact cause until last week.

Russell Crowe Thanks John Oliver for Buying His Jockstrap by Donating Money to Koala Chlamydia Study

Russell Crowe Thanks John Oliver for Buying His Jockstrap by Donating Money to Koala Chlamydia Study
How do you thank someone for buying your jockstrap? If you’re Russell Crowe, you donate to a study on the koala chlamydia epidemic. The “Gladiator” actor has thanked HBO late night host John Oliver for buying his “Cinderella” jockstrap during Crowe’s divorce auction last month by donating Oliver’s money to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. In return, the hospital has named the facility where the koalas are treated for the disease The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward.

Oliver announced the good news during the May 6 episode of “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.” The host joked he would be ending the HBO series as he can’t possibly top getting a koala chlamydia ward named in his honor.

During the show’s April 15 episode, Oliver revealed himself as the mystery buyer of Crowe’s jockstrap and other items from the auction, including the actor’s “American Gangster” set seat,

John Oliver ‘Quits’ ‘Last Week Tonight’ and It’s Because of Australian Koalas (Video)

John Oliver ‘Quits’ ‘Last Week Tonight’ and It’s Because of Australian Koalas (Video)
John Oliver gave his fans a scare on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight” by packing up his desk and declaring that his show was over.

Oliver was obviously kidding, though that didn’t stop fans from wondering if the comedian really was ending his show midway through its fifth season.

“We have accomplished everything we set out to do on this show,” he said, after revealing that the Australian Zoo named its new Koala after him. Oliver did this after opening an envelope where he had written down his main goal for the show, and sure enough, it was just three words: “Koala Chlamydia Ward.”

“Thanks very much everyone, but we are f—— done over here, let’s shut it down.”

Confused yet? Here’s some background.

Last month, “Last Week Tonight” purchased items from Russell Crowe’s auction of various costumes and props from his films, and donated them to one of the last remaining Blockbuster Video stores in Anchorage, Alaska.

Crowe then tweeted, “I think this is such a wonderful random act of kindness that I am planning now on how to best use the @iamjohnoliver money he spent on groin protectors and such . Given his often shown genuine love for Australians and Australia , it’s got to be something special .”

Crowe then followed that up, saying he had “a eureka moment” on how to use the money from Oliver. He would donate it to help treat chlamydia in koalas at the Australia Zoo.

Yes, really. How did Oliver know that it was specifically his money that went to this? Well, the Australia Zoo bestowed an honor upon Oliver that, as he said at the end of his show, was a lifelong goal of his: The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward.

John Oliver Says "Goodbye Forever" After Koala Chlamydia Ward Is Named After Him

Is it all over? For real?

John Oliver gave his fans a scare Sunday night after he finished a segment on Last Week Tonight proclaiming he was "done" after achieving his "one and only goal" for the show — that of a "koala chlamydia ward."

The rather unusual achievement happened after actor Russell Crowe one-upped the comedian by donating some of the proceeds of his recent divorce auction, namely the $7,000 that Oliver paid for the jockstrap from Cinderella Man and then donated to the only surviving Blockbuster Video store in America.

Crowe was touched by Oliver's stunt and responded in...

Alaskan Blockbuster Puts Russell Crowe's Jockstrap on Display

Alaskan Blockbuster Puts Russell Crowe's Jockstrap on Display
The sweaty jockstrap from Cinderella Man and other Russell Crowe memorabilia has found a home at one of the last Blockbuster Video stores in the country. The Blockbuster, which is located in Anchorage, Alaska, recently was gifted the items and is now proudly displaying them, possibly in the hopes of attracting more customers. At the very least, it adds a little charm to one of the last places of its kind in the United States.

Along with the jockstrap, which was actually worn by Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man, the store now has a robe and boxing shorts from the movie, as well as a vest the actor wore in 2012's Les Miserables, a hood from 2010's Robin Hood and both Crowe and Denzel Washington's chairs from the set of 2007's Oscar-nominated American Gangster. These items were all part of an auction held by Crowe following his recent divorce.
