Apple Ready to Raise Curtain on Video, TV and News Subscription Service

  • Variety
The day has nearly arrived for Apple to show the world whether there’s any fire behind the smoke of its streaming service.

Apple has kept a tight lid on most of the details of its upcoming service, even keeping its creative partners in the dark about how exactly their work will be distributed. What is undisputed, however, is that the tech giant with a nearly $1 trillion market cap has lined up a who’s who of high-profile talent to vault it into the increasingly crowded original-content arena.

Apple is set to unveil its plans for a launching of a revved up Apple TV offering aggregating channels and apps, its plan for original content and a subscription news service on Monday at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, Calif.

The company’s active roster is focused on well-known IP and packages with big names in front of and behind the camera.

The One With a Blast From the Past: Courteney Cox Visits the Friends Apartment in NYC
Courteney Cox had us singing, "I'll be there for yooouuu," on Wednesday when she posted a video of her visiting the apartment building from the hit show Friends. The 54-year-old actress - who starred as Monica Geller in the '90s and early-2000s series - stopped by the corner of Grove Street and Bedford Street in NYC to pay homage to the classic sitcom. The site was used to shoot the outside location of the apartment that Monica shares with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), and Ross (David Schwimmer).

"The One Where My Rent Went Up $12,000," Cox cleverly captioned the clip, referencing the show's episode titles (and New York's agonizing cost of living). In the video, Cox jokingly waves to the camera, saying, "Goodnight guys, I'm going home!" She then begins to walk toward the complex as the camera pans up while

Saw 2 Director Wants a True Leprechaun Reboot with Warwick Davis
This weekend marked another St. Patrick's Day, and to celebrate, writer-director Darren Lynn Bousman took to Twitter to let us all know that he still wants Lionsgate to hand him the keys to a semi-classic horror franchise: Leprechaun. Yeah, true story.

Evidently, Darren Lynn Bousman wants to bring back original franchise star Warwick Davis and send the little green guy back in time to the Colorado Gold Rush. Which sounds pretty awesome. Specifically, Bousman says this.

"It's that time of year again where I remind my good friends at @Lionsgate that I still want to reboot the Leprechaun movie (Again)... Lep gets in a time machine and goes back to the Colorado Gold Rush. You guys have my number, I'll be sitting by the phone."

It’s also possible

In today's TV climate, it's not uncommon for beloved TV shows to return to the air ... whether the fans want them or not.

Despite any sort or reunion series being shot down by the show's creators, Marta Kauffman has gone on record once again to deny a return for some of TV's most beloved characters.

“There are several reasons,” she dished to Rolling Stone.

“One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family," she continued.

"It’s not that time anymore. All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone."
