He was offered the lead role in Hopeamalja (1954), but he and his agent thought the script was poor and he passed on it. This became Paul Newman's film debut, to his great embarrassment. While shooting Eedenistä itään (1955), Dean went over to visit Newman on the set of this film, where he met the love of his short life, Pier Angeli, Newman's co-star. See more »
