O'Dessa
Sadie Sink is ready for the revolution in her new film O’Dessa, which premiered at SXSW before streaming on Hulu. In the movie, the “Stranger Things” star plays a lonely farm girl on a musical mission as she navigates a sinister city, falls in love, and uses the power of song to stand up to evil. It’s fitting that writer-director Geremy Jasper’s (Patti Cake$) sophomore film premiered at Austin’s prestigious music festival, because O’Dessa is not just a sour candy-colored, retro-future, dystopian sci-fi flick, it’s also a rock opera. Jasper penned the 16 original songs (alongside collaborator Jason Binnick) that are woven throughout O’Dessa’s epic journey. Although Sink and co-star Kelvin Harrison Jr. are the young heroes of this story, we’re equally excited to see the villainous performances from Regina Hall, Mark Boone Junior, and Murray Bartlett as the vicious post-apocalyptic oligarch Plutonovich.
