- DirectorJames GunnStarsNicholas HoultIsabela MercedNathan FillionFollows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way in a world that views this as old-fashioned.IMDb fans are counting down the days until James Gunn's Superman kicks off the first of five planned films in his "Gods and Monsters" arc as part of the DC Universe reboot. The first teaser gave us a taste of an already superhero-filled world with glimpses of Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, and the hero we're most excited for, Krypto the (goodest boy) Superdog. Shifting a bit from Snyder's darker take on the Kryptonian, Gunn is promising "a Superman who is about kindness, love and compassion...the best of humanity, even though he is an alien from outer space." We can definitely get behind that.
Expected in theaters July 11, 2025 - DirectorDanny BoyleStarsAaron Taylor-JohnsonJack O'ConnellRalph FiennesA group of survivors of the rage virus lives on a small island. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors. It's been almost 25 years since 28 Days Later introduced us to the horror of sprinting rage-filled zombies, and the team that brought that nightmare to life is back to terrorize us again. Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle kick off the first in a new trilogy set 28 years after the apocalypse, where things don't look like they've gotten much better for anyone. Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson star as the unfortunate survivors, with Cillian Murphy serving as executive producer and potentially reprising his role. We won't have long to wait to see what happens as the Nia DaCosta-helmed sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is set to premiere in 2026.
Expected in theaters June 20, 2025 - DirectorMatt ShakmanStarsPedro PascalVanessa KirbyJoseph QuinnOne of Marvel's most iconic families makes it back to the big screen, the Fantastic Four. The first Marvel-produced Fantastic Four movie is the second reboot for the superhero team, who've had a dodgy big-screen history dating back to the pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe era. (Technically, it’s the third reboot if you count the Roger Corman movie from the '90s that was shelved.) It'll take a massive power blast to prevent First Steps from finally establishing the Fantastic Four in the MCU, with the heroes being led by the beloved Pedro Pascal and "WandaVision" director Matt Shakman running the set. Shakman will go retro as he did on "WandaVision," with a 1960s-styled version of Earth facing a threat from the planet-eater Galactus and his messenger, the Silver Surfer. The movie kicks off Phase Six of the MCU which will be followed by Avengers: Doomsday, so if there's no direct connection between the two movies to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, we will no longer understand anything.
Expected in theaters July 25, 2025 - DirectorDean DeBloisStarsMason ThamesNico ParkerGerard ButlerFollows a young Viking as he aspires to hunt dragons, and how he unexpectedly becomes a friend of a young dragon. We’re not surprised DreamWorks’ first foray into live-action remakes has gotten moviegoers excited. The story of a young Viking boy who shirks tradition to befriend a dragon has remained a family favorite in the 15 years since the animated film’s release. But there’s a lot more to look forward to here than just another trip to the isle of Berk. Original writer-director Dean DeBlois and composer John Powell have returned to give the movie the same look and feel as the preceding trilogy, while Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Stoick the Vast, this time in front of the camera. We’re excited to see Mason Thames (The Black Phone) and Nico Parker (“The Last of Us”) lead up the cast alongside fellow talented young actors like Ruth Codd (“The Midnight Society”) and Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople). Oh, and Toothless? He’s looking just as cute and cuddly as always, thank Odin!
Expected in theaters June 13, 2025 - DirectorJake SchreierStarsFlorence PughSebastian StanJulia Louis-DreyfusA group of supervillains are recruited to go on missions for the government.Even as it tightens up its output, Marvel Studios plans to release three feature films in 2025. And while the name Thunderbolts* probably doesn’t mean much to the general public, fans are excited to see some of the MCU’s anti-heroes and villains team up. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Sebastian Stan are the beloved franchise stars leading the ensemble cast, which brings back familiar faces Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), and more. Plot details are under wraps, but it’s likely that Lewis Pullman will feature prominently as “Bob” aka Sentry.
Expected in theaters May 2, 2025 - DirectorJulius OnahStarsHarrison FordLiv TylerRosa SalazarSam Wilson, the new Captain America, finds himself in the middle of an international incident and must discover the motive behind a nefarious global plan.Anthony Mackie finally takes center stage as Captain America after coming to terms with the weight of taking on the mantle in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," and fans can't wait to see him don the shield. The trailers so far point to director Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) taking the franchise back to the '70s conspiracy thriller roots that landed Captain America: The Winter Soldier onto many Best MCU Film lists, as Sam Wilson investigates who's truly behind a nefarious global plan. Liv Tyler (Betty Ross), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), and Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley) reprise their roles, with Harrison Ford stepping in and seeing red as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross/Red Hulk.
In theaters Feb. 14, 2025 - DirectorMarc WebbStarsRachel ZeglerGal GadotAndrew BurnapLive-action adaptation of the 1937 Disney animated film 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs made Disney what it is today, and just like any revered movie, fans want to protect it. As with most remakes – especially Disney's live-action updates of animated classics - the Snow White trailer ruffled the feathers of uncharitable viewers who always appear when someone attempts something new, but let's not let that noise drown out the voices of fans who deserve to see West Side Story star Rachel Zegler portray the Disney Princess. Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen, Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer and the first two Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies) directs, and early critics in wicked stepmom mode also have much to say about the visual effects seen in the trailers. May this contemporary take on the story and Zegler's performance turn the movie's detractors into adorable, fluffy forest animals.
In theaters March 21, 2025 - DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsJonathan BaileyScarlett JohanssonEd SkreinFive years post-Jurassic World Dominion, an expedition braves isolated equatorial regions to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 60 million years, you know that audiences show up for dinosaurs, and IMDb users are excited for this fourth film in the Jurassic World series (and the seventh film in the larger Jurassic Park franchise). Jurassic World: Rebirth skips ahead five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion with a new set of characters led by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey as they embark on a mission to recover some dino-DNA from the dwindling population of ancient beasts. Expectations are high for stars Johansson and Ali to carry the film to box office glory; the previous three films in the series all grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
Expected in theaters July 2, 2025 - DirectorJared HessStarsJennifer CoolidgeJason MomoaEmma MyersFour misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world while embarking on a quest with an unexpected, expert crafter.Back in our day, video game adaptations were few and far between and often not very good. But Hollywood has finally cracked the code, and Minecraft fans are ready to reap the rewards. This spring, the beloved blocky sandbox game will finally get its big screen debut more than 10 years in the making. Jack Black stars as Steve in this origin story of sorts that follows four misfits (Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen, and Emma Myers) as they master mining, crafting, and the magic of imagination. However, the story may be secondary for some crafters who are more interested in seeing director Jared Hess’ (Napoleon Dynamite) interpretation of beloved characters like Minecraft’s unique animals, monsters, and those darn sneaky creepers. Don your enchanted armor and grab your diamond pickaxe, this movie looks more fun than punching a tree with a pork chop!
Expected in theaters April 4, 2025 - DirectorChristopher McQuarrieStarsShea WhighamHannah WaddinghamTom CruiseDon’t let the disappointing box office receipts of the previous Mission: Impossible fool you (or the title from Dead Reckoning Part One to Final Reckoning). IMDb fans are still hyped to see what sort of insane stunts Tom Cruise will put himself through, and the trailer reminded us there will be plenty of nail-biting action set pieces in the air, on land, and underwater. Franchise vets Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett will join the action, as will new recruits Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, and Hannah Waddingham. Moviegoers are looking for a worthy send-off for Ethan Hunt, while we’re left wondering if there's anyone besides Cruise willing to be the world’s biggest action star who demands to do their own stunts.
