In this limited series from director Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Hancock), the American West is the stage upon which disparate factions of pioneers collide during the western expansion of the 19th century. Betty Gilpin stars as a woman traveling with her son, with the help of Taylor Kitsch, who guides and protects them as they head west. If the setting and the look remind you of another gritty survival tale, The Revenant, that could be because series writer Mark L. Smith co-wrote that 2015 Best Picture winner. The cast also includes some of our lowkey favorite character actors, like Shea Whigham as the founder of Fort Bridger, Kim Coates as Mormon leader Brigham Young, and Dan DeHaan as a Mormon man fleeing religious persecution with his family.

Noah Wylie reunites with "ER" writer/showrunner John Wells for another trip to the hospital. Set in Pittsburgh, "The Pitt" does something new for TV: the 15-episode season will follow Dr. Michael Robinavitch (Wylie) and his colleagues over a single 15-hour shift. Turns out Wylie and Wells wanted the series to be an actual sequel to "ER," but they were unable to secure its rights, so they reformed "The Pitt" as a spiritual sequel instead. The series should boost the profiles of Wylie's co-stars Tracy Ifeachor, Fiona Dourif, Isa Briones, Katherine LaNasa, and others.

Our favorite teen matchmaker is back for another semester at KISS in Season 2 of "XO, Kitty," Jenny Han’s spin-off of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film series. As Kitty Song Lovey, Anna Cathcart enters the season ready to embrace the single life when a letter from her mother’s past kicks off a new journey. Is she really ready to leave the drama behind her and become "Kitty 2.0?" We lowkey hope not. Fans of the To All the Boys films will also be excited to learn Noah Centineo (aka Peter Kavinsky, Lara Jean's boyfriend) will be joining Season 2.

We know you’re already excited for the return of this "Castlevania" spin-off, so here are just a few more details to keep you satisfied before you sink your teeth into Season 2. Fan favorite Alucard (aka Adrian Tepes, aka Dracula’s half-vampire son) will be a major player in this new adventure, which sees Richter Belmont and his band of vampire hunters continue their mission to stop the vampire messiah, Erzsebet Bathory. To complete this quest, our heroes will have to leave Revolutionary France for Egypt, where Erzsebet hopes to attain the full power of the goddess Sekhmet and plunge the world into eternal darkness. But it’s not all doom and gloom for the critically acclaimed anime. Voice actor Sydney James Harcourt will be gracing our ears with more stunning musical performances as Edouard the opera singer.

It's time to return to work at Lumon Industries. It’s been more than 2 years since "Severance" Season 1 wrapped and we realized just how much this show had affected our personal and professional lives. We know some creative tensions delayed Season 2, but let's focus on what could be in store for Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lowery), and their Macrodata Refinement teammates this season. As all of the innies know fragments of their outie lives, Season 2 should reveal more of how Mark's wife Gemma became Ms. Casey, the wellness counselor on Lumon's severed floor, and how Helly can go to work every day knowing she's actually the daughter of Lumon's CEO. We hope the Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Milchick (Tramell Tillman) chess game will get plenty of air time as the employee has some power over the truly frightening authoritarian who might initiate a "Clean Slate" protocol over his subjects. And something tells us we might only get a glimpse of the floors below the severed floor that Irving (John Turturro) might know about.

Season 2 premieres Friday, Jan. 17 on Apple TV+

Gabriel Basso jumped out of a blimp to give us the official look at Season 2 of Netflix's most watched new series of 2023. The new season jets from Washington D.C. to Thailand to Manhattan as Basso's FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, goes AWOL from his official Night Agent duties to ferret out the people behind a weapons sale posing a threat to US security. There are a handful of new and familiar politicos, spies, and assorted baddies in play for Season 2, though we admit to moderate eye-rolling after realizing the potential mistrust in Peter and Rose's (Luciane Buchanan) relationship, which gives off outdated action genre vibes. We'd love more from President Travers (Kari Matchett) this season, too.

Season 2 premieres Thursday, Jan. 23 on Netflix

It’s the voice cast that has us most excited for animated this take on Peter Parker’s origins as Spider-Man. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’onofrio reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin from elsewhere in the MCU, but it’s Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn that has us most intrigued. The series, which is considered part of the larger cinematic universe, is set in an alternate timeline where Osborn takes on the role of Peter’s mentor rather than Tony Stark. Will the brilliant scientist still take up the mantle of the Green Goblin? Or will Peter Parker’s wholesome nature show Norman there’s another way?

Series premieres Wednesday, Jan. 29 on Disney+

Season 2 of this mystery survival series rocked audiences with its shocking deaths in both its past and present timelines. After the untimely end of fan favorite [redacted], it’s hard to imagine where the story will go next. And yet, the series’ cast and creators have left a few breadcrumbs out there for us to follow deeper into the woods. Samantha Hanratty, who plays young Misty, told "Entertainment Tonight" that “we’re gonna see the melting of … what these people are.” In “Vanity Fair,” show creator Ashley Lyle revealed that we’ll “learn more about what happened in the wilderness that [the characters] are so afraid of coming out.” Combine these hors d'oeuvres with the news that Hillary Swank and Joel McHale are joining the cast, and you have the makings of a delectable Season 3.

Season 3 premieres Friday, Feb. 14 on Showtime

Mike White has an impressive knack for twisting and distorting idyllic vacation destinations into the settings of manipulative ploys and sometimes gruesome outcomes, and we truly cannot get enough. Hawaii and Sicily were his first victims, and Thailand is up next, with filming in locations such as Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, guaranteed to spark our wanderlust as we watch a new season of treachery unfold. Expect Buddhist principles like mindfulness and karma to present in unexpected ways while untangling the web of character connections — Natasha Rothwell returns as Belinda, and is joined by a stacked cast including Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and more.

Season 3 premieres Feb. 16 on Max

Though "Suits" closed the firm back in 2019, when the show dropped on Netflix in mid-2023, it became the streamer's #1 show of the year. Despite one failed spin-off (the ill-fated “Pearson,” which only lasted one season), NBC tapped “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh for a new series based in Los Angeles. Stephen Amell (“Arrow,” “Code 8”) stars as a New York lawyer looking to build his legal empire in Hollywood.

Series premieres Sunday, Feb. 23 on NBC

Turkish superstar Can Yaman stars in this historical action drama in which he plays Balaban, a 17th century Turkish soldier who is taken prisoner by the Roman Empire and later escapes to organize an uprising. Based on the novel by Orhan Yeniaras, the limited series has gained so much interest it landed on IMDb’s Most Anticipated New Shows of 2025 list. 2025 looks to be a big year for Yaman, who is also slated to star in another historical series, “Sandokan.”

Daredevil fans have been really been through the wringer, but Disney is making every attempt to ensure this revival of Matt Murdock’s saga retains some of the magic that made "Daredevil" such a hit on Netflix before its cancellation after three seasons. Fans were thrilled to learn in 2022 that Marvel would be reclaiming the IP and developing a revival series, but in September 2023, Disney let overhauled the creative team and hired new writers and directors to complete the project. Now that the project is back on course, we can relax a bit, because Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher) are all back on board to reprise their roles.

Series premieres Tuesday, March 4 on Disney+

For lovers of both the video games and Max series, in 2025 we will be returning to the clicker-, runner-, and bloater-infected world that is "The Last of Us." Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey elevated this post-apocalyptic drama with their on-screen chemistry fortifying their bond the 9-episode first season. Their on-screen journey takes its time developing the characters we're so accustomed to playing. Thriving in the details, the creators know when to (and when not to) lean into the source material. Season 2 picks up where we left off, with Joel and Ellie in Jackson, reconciling with the aftermath of their visit to the Fireflies' lab. Those who have played Part II of the game anxiously wait to see the inevitable, while the rest of us try our best not to get spoiled.

Tension on the set of Deborah Vance's talk show should be centerstage as "Hacks" returns for Season 4 this year. When we last were in Las Vegas, the power struggle between DV and her employee Ava Daniels tipped in Ava's favor after she outmaneuvered Deborah and secured the role as her show's head writer. Coming off Season 3 Emmy win for Outstanding Comedy Series, we're curious how the new season's subplots will play out. Will Marcus ditch DV for QVC? What will Kayla be like as a partner in Jimmy’s management agency? Is DV ready to be a grandmother? And how will the season set up what's reported to be its fifth, potentially final outing?

Season 4 expected in May 2025 on Max

The NCIS franchise is no stranger to spin-offs, with series set in Los Angeles and New Orleans. The newest series, announced in late February 2024, centers around original characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, one of our favorite slow burn, will-they-won't-they relationships. The show will pick up where "NCIS" Season 17 left off, with Tony reuniting with a very much alive Ziva to raise their daughter together in Paris. The chemistry between these two characters feels natural and earned, as we have seen them through every, jealous antic, breakup, and kidnapping that the show could throw at them. "Tiva" has a lot of ground to cover in their new storyline, needing to trust one another again to combat security threats on DiNozzo's company. Their already expansively complex relationship will be put to the forefront in this enticing new spin-off.

Expected in early 2025 on Paramount+

Dominique Thorne reprises her role as tech genius and MIT student Riri Williams in the upcoming six-episode miniseries. Although not much has been revealed about the plot, we do know that it takes place after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and will be (at least partially) set in Riri's hometown of Chicago. Joining the cast are Alden Ehrenreich, Anthony Ramos, Cree Summer, and Sacha Baron Cohen who is rumored to be playing the demon Mephisto, but as MCU fans have been predicting Mephisto's arrival in every series since "WandaVision" we'll have to wait and see if he makes an appearance.

Premieres Tuesday, June 24 on Disney+

The seemingly immortal Dexter Morgan returns for a second sequel series which, whether fans want to know or not, how (or if?) the avenging angel survived the freezing waters of Iron Lake, New York in the finale of "Dexter: New Blood." We don’t expect to learn much about the show while the prequel series "Dexter: Original Sin" airs through the winter, though franchise showrunner Clyde Phillips has re-teamed with Michael C. Hall for the resurrection. There is, of course, active debate online whether the franchise is careening off the rails or righting the wrongs of the original series, and as of early 2025, there's no current news on the "Trinity Killer" prequel series centered around the serial killer played by John Lithgow.

Expected June 2025 on Showtime

No Ripley. No Earth as we've come to know it. No "beautiful Apple store technology" powering the special effects. This much we know about "Fargo" creator Noah Hawley's Alien series – oh, erm, aside from its storyline possibly retconning the entire franchise. The teaser trailer released near the end of 2024 revealed the series will be set in 2120, two years prior to Alien – not, as originally announced by Hawley, three decades before the first movie. Sydney Chandler, most recently seen in the Colin Farrell series "Sugar," plays a "meta-human" and property of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which is racing against other companies to create synthetic beings. While the main story will focus on the group of soldiers who discover the first Xenomorph to reach Earth, expect to learn a lot more about Weyland-Yutani over 8+ hours of television as Hawley takes a risk with franchise canon after Alien: Romulus righted the ship with fans.
