Zeina Durra shares with IMDbPro her best advice for aspiring directors, what it takes to be a good producer, and more!3 of 5
Zeina Durra: : Do you have any mentors? How did you meet them and what have they taught you?
Zeina Durra: Yes, I have a few. My main mentor is the producer Paul Webster. I met him back in 2006. Over the years, we always kept in touch, and he always gave me great advice. We have some projects together, and he produced Luxor with Moh Hefzy. I learnt how to calmly navigate situations through him and how to put up positive empowering boundaries with co-workers. He also showed me that being a good producer means that you support the writer/director; rather than scribbling all over their work, you find that place that might need more delving into and you ask them why they didn’t go there. You push them in a positive fostering way, and you are there for them without an ego! He really is the person I have learnt the most from on many levels.
