It's a wildly unoriginal hodge-podge of bits stolen from other movies, a few from this list but also Rebecca, Flowers in the Attic, The Shining, and the final third of the movie is pretty much just the final third of Notorious. As with 2010's hodge-podge The Black Swan, it makes me sick to think of clueless punk kids watching it and giving it credit for any of the ideas. But, as with Black Swan, I can't deny that I liked the movie (it's easy to make a good movie when you steal only the good parts from a slew of previous attempts). Arg!
And this is Guillermo Del Toro, who used to make such imaginative films (see above). Arrrggg!!!
Seriously? Our protagonist marries a shady man and moves into his isolated house with him and the cold female family member who controls him. She steals a key off the key ring to investigate another part of the house, but before she can slip it back on the ring its absence is noticed. They're on to her! The controlling female family member convinces the husband (who really loves our protagonist) to start slowly poisoning her regular drink to make it look like she gets sick and dies. She only realizes her drinks are poisoned after it's too late and she's too weak to leave. The controlling female family member confines her to her bed and gives an ominous speech. Her true love from outside comes to visit her and she's too weak to tell him what's going on, even as the conspirators stand right behind him. He ends up helping her down a long flight of stairs to the front door. Seriously? Really? Seriously? Are you F-ing kidding me?! AAAAAAARRRRRGGGG!!!

45 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

The first season of Millennium is a wonder to behold. Quality didn't translate to viewers however, and the show was retooled for a crummy second season. This didn't fix things and the show was retooled again for a third season that was crummy in a whole new way.
