Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Chronological Watch Order

by Darkpoet1792 | created - 03 Jul 2017 | updated - 27 Sep 2018 | Public

This is the chronological order for the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This list is based off of 2 lists. The first is the one from starwars.com, and the 2nd I'll provide the link below.

Instead of just listing the episode order for you to binge, I'll be making it a bit easier, by separating the episodes by season. This way, you have a proper Mid-Season Break you can take, if you want to, and a Season Finale which will help space out your viewing order, allowing you to enjoy the show more. It'll still be 6 seasons, but in chronological order.

Some Clone Wars related material, released after the show was cancelled and will not be listed as it's in the form of comics and novels. The 2nd list does include them so if you want to know where to read Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple while watching this show; go here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/35ex94/the_clone_wars_ultimate_episode_order/

PG | 98 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

35 Metascore

After the Republic's victory on Christophsis, Anakin and his new apprentice Ahsoka Tano must rescue the kidnapped son of Jabba the Hutt. Political intrigue complicates their mission.

Director: Dave Filoni | Stars: Matt Lanter, Nika Futterman, Tom Kane, Ashley Eckstein

Votes: 58,922 | Gross: $35.16M

Season 1 Ep. 3 - This movie is compiled of 4 individual episodes to make a movie. The 1st episode finishes the arc started in 'Cat and Mouse', and continued in 'The Hidden Enemy'. The majority of this film centers on Jabba's missing Hutling, and since one of the episode titles was going to be 'The Missing Hutling' I decided to list it as that here. Sorry for any confusion.

2. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–2020)

Stars: Tom Kane, Dee Bradley Baker, Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor

Most of what's here is the Official Star Wars Watch Order for The Clone Wars. The episodes moved around are from the 2nd list, to make the pacing of the show better, especially when you watch it in the format I've listed it in. His explanations for why he placed the episodes there make perfect sense to me and it does flow better when watching the show.

Season 1 Ep. 10 - I have this episode as the Mid-Season Finale of Season 1 for a couple reasons. This episode is fantastic (imo) and humanizes the clones even more. It's a good place to take a break because of the 'cliffhanger' with an invasion coming soon. There is a good bit of time between this episode and the next episode while the invasion arrives and a good amount of things that happened in this episode, set up for a lot to come later on.

Season 1 Ep. 11 - "I placed it up closer to 'Rookies', so to finish that part of the story arc." - Sapitoelgato

Season 1 Ep. 23 - I really like this arc a lot, and I think it's a good Season Finale for Season 1 because we get to see most of the main characters of the series taking on a very old virus. We get to see an Angel, finally :) and we have some potential risk when it comes to the lives of a few original characters for the show.

Season 2 Ep. 10 - I decided to make this episode the Mid-Season Finale because the episodes before and after are part of arcs that can't be separated. So it was more like I had to. Either way it's still a great episode (imo). We're introduced to Clovis, who comes into play later. We get more development with Anakin and Padme and we get more information about Separatist plans that comes into play later.

Season 2 Ep. 23 - This is the Season 2 Finale for both versions of the show and it works, so I left it the same.

Season 3 Ep. 10 - This is a great arc to end it on. I really love this arc, even if it is one of the political episodes. It gives us insight on how messed up things are on both sides. We get development with a few characters we've seen before and have possible grown fond of so far and there's also a death of a recurring character that's significant enough to make an impact.

Season 3 Ep. 14 - "I moved that to right after 'Witches of the Mist' to give time for Ventress to wander off to the outer rim, and get her change of attire/ find herself. Plus, it seemed like a long gap from her failed assassination attempt at Dooku, and her return to Dathomir, with Dooku dealing with Talzin swiftly." - Sapitoelgato

Season 3 Ep. 22 - This is the Season 3 Finale for both versions of the show and it works, so I left it the same.

Season 4 Ep. 1-4 - "I felt it was best to make the kidnapping attempt to come farther away from 'Revenge of the Sith', because it would be enough time to have the republic lower it's guard again. Plus, it is interesting to have Anakin go from almost losing his padawan to thinking he lost his master Obi-Wan." - Sapitoelgato

Season 4 Ep. 8 - "I wanted to tease this story arc along sooner as you are watching the show, so I put it in right after the water war arc. I felt that 'Shadow Warrior' was a good fit of an episode to play afterward." - Sapitoelgato

Season 4 Ep. 9 - I didn't want Bounty to be the Mid-Season Finale because this episode isn't a great premiere episode and Brothers/Revenge is a great 2 parter to come back to. This episode is still good (imo) as it is built up very well, the intrigue and mystery is good and we also get to see Grievous again, which is always a plus. It's also good to be back on Naboo (imo, as it's beautiful), and we get to see the Queen of Naboo during The Clone Wars (before a new one is elected in a year, who we see in 'Revenge of the Sith').

Season 4 Ep. 10-11 - "Again, like 'Bounty', I put it sooner to tease along the Maul/Savage story line. I felt that putting 'Shadow Warrior' between 'Bounty' and 'Brothers' was a good way to set up time, so Savage could travel to find/save his brother until they meet up, with Ventress in 'Revenge'." - Sapitoelgato

Season 5 Ep. 1-4 - "I put it closer to the Friend in Need episode, so that it could be resolved sooner than later." - Sapitoelgato

Season 5 Ep. 5-7 - "This one was suggested by someone else in a different post, and it makes total sense. The original voice actor of Palpatine did the voice for these episodes (before he passed away), and it fit nicely in the timeline. From the stories on out, there is a shift in the new voice actor at the end of The Lawless episode." - Sapitoelgato

Season 5 Ep. 8-11 - "I moved it around to get it out of the way from the last set of episodes, because it seemed out of place being sandwiched between the Youngling Arc and the Lawless arc. Not only that, but it makes episodes 100-121 a great binge of episodes." - Sapitoelgato
