Fall TV: Cliffhanger Catch-Up3 of 10
"Empire"
Talk about a cliffhanger. At the end of Season 2, Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) had a major fight, and one of them fell to her death. Showrunner Ilene Chaiken confirmed that the character did die, although we have to wait until the Season 3 premiere Sept. 21 on FOX to learn who died. If it's Anika, then that was a really quick marriage, since another major twist in the finale was her marriage to Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), which did not sit well with Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson). Laura (Jamila Velazquez) was supposed to marry Hakeem lyon (Bryshere Gray), but she decided this was not the life for her. On top of the season's many twists, it turns out FBI agent Tariq (Morocco Omari) is Lucious's half-brother. Showrunner Chaiken told Variety that Season 3 (which will feature (Mariah Carey) as a megastar named "Kitty") will follow a "'Godfather' style opus of crime and hip-hop that has Lucious as the beleaguered kingpin battling back this federal investigation led by a man with a personal grievance, and thug rappers who helped him to build his Empire and are now coming back for their pound of flesh.'"
