Whether it's lovelorn rats, gender-questioning pigeons or aging bedbugs in the midst of a midlife crisis, the awkward small talk, moral ambiguity and existential woes of non-human urbanites prove startlingly similar to our own.
Absorbing vignettes. Earlier seasons are better.

Dark. Very, very dark.
11. Home Movies (1999–2004)

Brendon Small, an ambitious eight-year-old filmmaker, shoots movies in his basement with his two best friends, while coming to terms with adolescence, life, and relationships.
Coach McGurk is probably one of the greatest cartoon characters ever created.

13. Squidbillies (2005– )

Follows the adventures of the Cuylers, an impoverished and dysfunctional family of anthropomorphic, air-breathing, redneck squids who live in a rural Appalachian community in the state of Georgia.
Unlike many other series, the later seasons are better.

Cutesy but still funny.

16. The Simpsons (1989– )

A cultural icon. Earlier seasons are the best.
17. Golan the Insatiable (2013–2015)

Golan is the dark lord of an alternate universe that comes to our world and is befriended by a little goth girl and her family. Buffoonery ensues as he deals with everyday life.
The pilot series is better, but too short. Great concept.

Hit and miss, but mostly hit.

Ridiculous, but addictive.
