Votes: 180,678 | Gross: $33.41M

A true 7/10 - a very good movie, and it only its ending were better, it would have received an even higher rating. Meanwhile, 7/10 is exactly 'spot on'.

2. Gravity (2013)

PG-13 | 91 min | Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller

96 Metascore

Two astronauts work together to survive after an accident leaves them stranded in space.

Director: Alfonso Cuarón | Stars: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Ed Harris, Orto Ignatiussen

Votes: 716,826 | Gross: $274.09M

Between 8 and 9 out of ten is exactly the right rating for this excellent movie.

A drama centered on a group of people searching for human connections in today's wired world.

Votes: 241,253 | Gross: $5.54M

Linklater's love story is rated correctly unlike its successor 'Before Sunset' which although good, is overrated.

Director: John Kavanaugh | Stars: Brett Fleisher, Rod Pearson, Tyler Reid, Kelli Barrett

Votes: 1,021

Based on real experiences, its 7.1 rating is fully on the mark. After all, although it's very rare - sometimes - the reality of a haunting is far more interesting than anything a writer's mind can produce.

Another extremely and refreshingly rare scary movie which also happens to have the correct 7.x IMDB rating. Here is the professional life of the infamous (some would say notorious) Warrens, set to movie.

9. The Impossible (2012)

PG-13 | 114 min | Drama, History, Thriller

73 Metascore

The story of a tourist family in Thailand caught in the destruction and chaotic aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Having been on Patong beach only a year before the tsunami hit, this movie strikes a chord in my heart. Its 7.6 rating is also right on the mark.

72 Metascore

100 Metascore

A cynical American expatriate struggles to decide whether or not he should help his former lover and her fugitive husband escape French Morocco.

Director: Michael Curtiz | Stars: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains

Many of the top 100 are ridiculously overrated, but not Casablanca which will always be a timeless great.

Director: Francis Ford Coppola | Stars: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Diane Keaton

Part 1 was made with true care, unrivalled attention to detail and passion, unlike all the 'cash in' sequels, which were good but definitely overrated...

65 Metascore

In Miami in 1980, a determined Cuban immigrant takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed.

Director: Brian De Palma | Stars: Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio

Votes: 672,447 | Gross: $45.60M

Again a masterpiece which is unquestionably rated correctly.

Among Heath Ledger's less well known movies, is this correctly rated gem at 7.3/10

20. American Psycho (2000)

Incredibly the soul stirring, and masterly is: 'Life of Pi'. Its IMDB rating of 8.x/10 is spot on the mark. I just couldn't leave this list without including it.
