8/10 Often found in someone's list of 'top 3 most *beep* up horror movies ever'. It's pretty brutal. And a lot of it is animal stuff. The original found footage horror film, exploitative, a post colonial theory playground.

Votes: 64,382 | Gross: $3.68M

8/10 It would be higher on the list if it wasn't a rip off of Dean Koontz's book Intensity. But it's well made and very scary. Aja has done a lot of referential or remake work but this is among his best.

Director: Jordan Peele | Stars: Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Catherine Keener

Votes: 432,502 | Gross: $176.04M

8/10 must see Holy *beep* A timely and poignant freshman directorial effort from Jordan Peele (Key and Peele). A little slow to warm up and a few cliché and predicable plot points for seasoned horror fans. Once it starts heading down the intended trajectory though the tension is palpable. I literally had to ask myself if I was having a panic attack when things started to heat up. Killer performances from Daniel Kaluuya and friend to horror Caleb Landry Jones (Antiviral and The Last Exorcism). A perfect ending that sends the message Peele's film was meant to, in a way only he could. Moments of hilarity. Let yourself squirm with a dozen kinds of discomfort and terror. This has never been done and we needed it badly in 2017. Do not miss this movie.

Director: Andy Muschietti | Stars: Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa

Votes: 130,799 | Gross: $193.77M

6/10 Recommend Might as well see it in theaters. I didn't like it as much as the first. There are so many different things to keep track of its no wonder they went with a miniseries. Mike met some native Americans, everyone lost their memories, they have to remember how the last chapter ended before we can end this one. It wasn't as scary as I hoped it would be. A couple jump scares and very little dread. Lots of Pennywise.

Directors: Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett | Stars: Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O'Brien, Henry Czerny

Votes: 40,254 | Gross: $26.74M

6/10 a VERY funny and enjoyable spooky film but not particularly scary. You could probably wait for it on Redbox. Adam Brody reprises the character of Seth Cohen as an adult in a familiar and comforting manner (or can he just not act?). Samara Weaving you may remember from the Babysitter where she was amazing, great here again.

Director: Jordan Peele | Stars: Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker

Votes: 166,827 | Gross: $175.01M

8/10 You must see Jordan Peele's new movie! I need to see it again to really get the full benefit but it's a carefully crafted movie full of varied scares and incredible acting. The story builds from a simple intruder at the vacation house story to an intense doppelganger chase and then things just get more bizarre from there. Peele is obviously a scholar of horror and his movie earns every moment of its ending.

Votes: 336,235 | Gross: $188.02M

7/10 with an asterisk- It's a cool, original movie with neat creatures and tight direction. I love a movie where things go from bad to worse to worse but there were some obvious plot holes and I wish it was scarier. There were a couple effective jump scares but it could have been more suspenseful. That said, as a movie, it's awesome. As a horror movie, it leaves a little bit to be desired. It's PG-13 so you should know what to expect going in. No gore, pro-family message. Well-acted on all counts. Great job, Tuna.

41. Cam (2018)
