Stars: Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Betsy Brandt

Votes: 2,133,777

Simply perfection. The only show I've seen that gets better exponentially with every season right up until the end, and it is one wild ride start to finish.

2. Better Call Saul (2015–2022)

TV-MA | 45 min | Crime, Drama

The trials and tribulations of criminal lawyer Jimmy McGill in the years leading up to his fateful run-in with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

Stars: Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, Patrick Fabian

Votes: 646,495

Messy start, but still shockingly good once it finds it’s feet. I’m impressed how different it is from Breaking Bad despite the heavy ties. It’s much better than I would have ever expected, and like Breaking Bad it improves season to season continuing a remarkable run for Vince Gilligan.

3. Dexter (2006–2013)

TV-MA | 60 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

He's smart. He's lovable. He's Dexter Morgan, America's favorite serial killer, who spends his days solving crimes and nights committing them.

Stars: Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, James Remar

Votes: 765,139

Incredible first four seasons, but after Clyde Phillips left the writing quality dropped off a cliff and everything turned to shit. Sad because at one point it was my favorite show. Still a solid guilty pleasure at least. Seasons 1-4 10/10

Edit: Redeemed by the reboot! I absolutely loved New Blood, and am so happy the show finally got the ending it deserved.

4. The Wire (2002–2008)

TV-MA | 60 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

The Baltimore drug scene, as seen through the eyes of drug dealers and law enforcement.

Stars: Dominic West, Lance Reddick, Sonja Sohn, Wendell Pierce

Votes: 377,055

An unparalleled achievement in authenticity, The Wire is the most realistic and impressively crafted show I’ve ever seen. Certainly deserving of all it’s praise.

5. Game of Thrones (2011–2019)

TV-MA | 60 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

Nine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.

Stars: Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey

Votes: 2,282,260

"A Song Of Ice And Fire" by George R.R. Martin is one of my all time favorite book series, and the show stays true to the source material remarkably well. However, because I'm so familiar with the books, I am sometimes disappointed with the changes made. Regardless, this is truly a masterpiece series and adaptation, with nothing else quite like it on television.

Edit: Holy shit were the final seasons of this series awful haha. They didn’t totally tarnish it’s legacy, but I’m still not sure I’ll ever get over the poor taste left in my mouth.

American Beauty the series (and almost as good).

A look at life for a group of high school students as they grapple with issues of drugs, sex, and violence.

Stars: Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow

Votes: 241,260

No other show has ever made me “feel” the way this one does. It’s way to early to say whether or not it’ll be truly great (and I know I’m being impulsive by rating it so highly so soon), but Euphoria has definitely tapped into something special. It’s electric, stylish, unflinching, and has already managed to make me obsessed in only 5 episodes. It’s been the biggest surprise of the year for me, and I’m so glad it was renewed for S2. Zendaya is amazing and bound to be a huge star.

10. Succession (2018–2023)

Fantastic start. Likely to rise up the list if it can retain the quality of its surprisingly great first season.

Edit: Jinxed it. Lol.

12. Black Mirror (2011– )

TV-MA | 60 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi

Featuring stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world.

Stars: Wunmi Mosaku, Monica Dolan, Daniel Lapaine, Hannah John-Kamen

21st century Twilight Zone, but better.

Stars: Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Brad Dourif

Votes: 117,553

Tough and gritty frontier western from HBO that was a glorious achievement in its day, but still tragically cancelled before it could reach its full potential. I’m hoping the movie can capture some of the same old magic.

15. Mindhunter (2017–2019)

TV-MA | 60 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

In the late 1970s, two FBI agents broaden the realm of criminal science by investigating the psychology behind murder and end up getting too close to real-life monsters.

Stars: Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross

Votes: 335,430

This is certainly the best show I’ve ever seen about serial killers and those who hunt them. It’s also consistently meticulous in it’s period detail and all around incredibly well made. I’m loving David Fincher’s venture into television. His perfectionism definitely made the transition.

16. Ozark (2017–2022)

TV-MA | 60 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

A financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss.

Stars: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner

Votes: 346,408

Not just a ripoff of Breaking Bad as I initially assumed, but a totally unique crime drama that only grows more layered and riveting as it goes along. I have incredibly high hopes for this series after watching the first couple seasons. I love every storyline the show has to offer. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are terrific.

Edit: Holy shit Season 3 ups the game! The show’s really firing on all cylinders now. Absolutely every member of the ensamble is terrific, and the story has now reached a point where it has set up so much that it can be truly unpredictable. I’m in awe of how good the writing has become. It’s a toss up between this and Better Call Saul for the best series currently on air in my opinion.

Various chronicles of deception, intrigue, and murder in and around frozen Minnesota. All of these tales mysteriously lead back one way or another to Fargo, North Dakota.

Stars: Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks

Votes: 421,582

I really love the Coen brother's film, and, even if it's not quite as good, the series does a great job capturing the zaniness and charm of the movie and town while being different enough to stand alone. My only real complaint is that it would frequently go off on tangents or introduce conflicts and plot lines that were never addressed again, or at least not fully resolved. Still a fantastic show, and I will definitely be returning if there ends up being a second season.

Edit: Season 2 was indeed better than Season 1. Wow.
