Votes: 208,506

3/10 so overrated! what was the hype around this movie? it’s not good?? i saw billboards all over new york of it and it motivated me watch & to get what all the memes were sandra was alright, the kids were annoying, sarah paulson should’ve been the main! she’s brilliant and was in the movie for a matter of minutes, my favourite character was tom i reckon. the way the story was told was garbage, way to cut off all sense of suspense if you know it’s just going to be sandra and 2 kids on that boat. i know it’s a “horror” movie but i’d expect characters to actually operate like human beings if this was based on a good book, and what was the whole deal with the mentally ill people and the british dude being able to magically switch off his crazy? the ending w the blind people too, great idea! bad execution, that can be said about this movie actually lmao i really tried to enjoy this movie but it just pissed me off starting 2019 brilliantlyy!

5/10 i think this is the third time i’ve seen this movie and i still don’t appreciate it any more or less, i love the concept just not really the movie for me. i know it’s making fun of itself and it’s completely self aware but eh i don’t really enjoy it. performances, violence/gore and the overall concept is awesome (despite the ending)

Votes: 87,491

7/10 black mirror is one of my favourite shows so i expected a fair bit when i found out about this! and i was quite surprised at all the endings and possible stories that were involved. i spent a good 2hrs working back and forth to get all the endings and it was great! i don’t know if i’d stick this on like i usually would with a black mirror episode but still a really cool experience and might do it again?

Director: Peter Farrelly | Stars: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, Linda Cardellini, Sebastian Maniscalco

Votes: 180,283 | Gross: $85.03M

7/10 a touching and great story. viggo is one of my favourite actors & i reckon he outdid himself this time! a lot of great moments and performances in this film, also didn’t expect to be really funny? edit (after oscars): this did not deserve best picture whatsoever. all the controversy this film has?? had no clue about but does change my opinion of this movie a bit. it really is such a “dad” movie but if i went into it (much like i did when i saw it) not knowing anything i’d enjoy it and i still do.

12. Hannah Gadsby: Nanette (2018 TV Special)

Stand-up comedy in which Hannah Gadsby explains why she is giving up comedy. She tells the story of the strength of being a broken woman who has rebuilt herself.

Directors: Jon Olb, Madeleine Parry | Star: Hannah Gadsby

Votes: 6,493

5/10 i really don’t know how to rate a comedy special that i mostly disliked but also really appreciated?? i liked the first 5 mins and a couple of jokes about homophobic tasmanians n shit, but it felt like a ted talk. some moments were really touching n i’m glad they are being said but others i purely cringed. yes, hannah went through utter shit to get to where she is today but i left it feeling a bit strange. maybe it’s too PC for me god knows. fave joke would be about being a quiet lesbian at mardi gras.

An exclusive behind the scenes look at the infamous unraveling of the Fyre music festival.

6.5/10 super interesting to learn about this festival i had no bloody clue about and the inevitable disaster it was going to be, i’d recommend to watch if you’re bored on netflix n like dramatic docos. the shenanigans that billy and co got up to were unbelievable (thankful for the memes that this has created)

Director: Lee Unkrich | Stars: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ned Beatty

Votes: 674,552 | Gross: $415.00M

6/10 was browsing through foxtel movies again and even-though i missed the first 20 mins and seen this about 4 times? i wanted to finish it, cute ending to toy story. despite this being overrated (def did not deserve best animated picture and all the usual pixar hype) a lot of stupid plot conveniences and following themes from the first & second, it’s a nostalgic and well told story. genuinely funny jokes and some moments that tug on your heart strings too.

Votes: 76,832 | Gross: $2.01M

9/10 took me far too long to see this masterpiece of a film. the performances, screenplay, attention to detail and music are just amazing. literally the only thing i can fault is one editing choice near the end! can’t wait to watch again

8/10 (for season 1 at least) this was such an awesome show, watched it in two days and loved every episode of it. took me a while to like a few characters but i feel like everyone had their moments to shine. music and story were awesome, some cool shots too. kinda annoyed me how obvious vanya having powers was and i wanted her storyline to hurry up a bit but it’s based on comics i’ve never read so that probably goes on in those. buuuut, that cliffhanger was brilliant, season 2 needs to come on netflix already!!

Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck | Stars: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law

Votes: 229,638 | Gross: $402.86M

4.5/10 pushing aside all the feminist bullshit from this film and all the brie larson drama making me slightly bias, this is objectively not a good movie. from the get go it’s a cgi action scene onwards to “vers” going on another mission scene. there is no opportunity to care about the main character, she is shoved in your face and up until she is upside down getting her brain probed you know she has a past, and you know what happened to her (painfully obvious) but you have to watch her figure it out which is so boring. i could shit on the plot points for a while but just not a good way to structure an origin story. this movie slightly expects you know shit with random references too, and due to this there was no consequences for anyone as we already know all the shit that’s went on for the antagonists in guardians of the galaxy etc. as for the characters, an awkward performance by brie, sam jackson trying to make something out of the script and bad acting from the little girl and her mum (don’t even know their names cause idc). the way this film was presented was also pretty bland and nothing special. as for the music just purely made me cringe, especially “i’m just a girl” playing in a fight scene and “come as you are” while the intelligence whatever woman goes “ooh i like this jacket..and hmMUSIC” like what?? overall, i went and saw this with my brother and we had a good time because it’s a turn your brain off and laugh at the stupidity of invincible character 1 fight slightly less empowered character 2 and i love some me some cringe but even this was too much for me at times. i wonder if captain marvel will actually be a likeable character with genuine emotions in avengers end game, doubt it. (scream laughed at “my name is CAROL” that’s the only thing i want to remember about this movie)
