Movies With Separate Titles On IMDb For Perfectly Good Reasons
by nikolayyeriomin | created - 02 Apr 2018 | updated - 01 Jul 2018 | PublicSometimes you stumble upon one movie separated into two titles on IMDb and, while mostly it means that one title was added twice and should be merged, sometimes there are perfectly good reasons for that. Movies are presented in a chronological order of the first version to avoid confusion.
What I am including here:
-Alternate versions and director's cuts re-edited to such a point that they effectively cease to be the same movie.
-Whole alternate movies assembled from deleted, expanded or alternative scenes.
-Anthology segments expanded into their own feature films.
-Movies re-releases as TV episodes.
-Other weird and unique cases.
What I'm not including here:
-Movies listed twice with little to no reason (obviously; when I discover such cases I merge them).
-Different productions adapted from the same source material.
-Remakes (with exception of anthology segments expanded into features).
-Concept proof short films which were re-made as features.
-Alternate language versions: a common practice that mainly existed in 1920's and 1930's of filming the same movie twice back-to-back, often with different actors but mainly the same crew and in the same locations. Examples include Dracula (1931) and Drácula (1931), as well as Murder! (1930) and Mary (1931).
-Anthology movies which include several previous TV episodes or movies or, vice versa, anthology segments re-tooled as music videos, short films etc. Exceptions are standalone releases which are not anthologies.
-Unaired pilots, as they are usually still listed as episodes of respective series.
