Watched September 30 I just couldn't wait.. watched this on in black and white.. It was pretty good.. Not great but not bad either.
2. Mill of the Stone Women (1960)
96 min | Horror, Sci-Fi
In 19th century Holland, a professor of fine arts and an unlicensed surgeon run a secret lab where the professor's ill daughter receives blood-transfusions from kidnapped female victims who posthumously become macabre art.
Watched October 1 Loved it .. starts a little slow but once the story gets goings.. it was great. The story and cinema photography was great.. The first color Italian horror movie but watched in Black and White Double Feature with SUPERNATURAL
3. Supernatural (1933)
Passed | 65 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller
A serial black widow murderess returns to life in the body of a young woman to exact revenge on a former lover, a phony spiritualist who betrayed her.
Watched October 1 B- movie -- maybe the story was fresh in 1933 but it is stale now. Double Feature with MILL OF THE STONE WOMEN
4. The Ghost Breakers (1940)
Passed | 85 min | Comedy, Horror, Mystery
A radio broadcaster, his quaking manservant and an heiress investigate the mystery of a haunted castle in Cuba.
Watched October 2 a nice light-hearted Ghost story featuring the highly under rated Willie Best.. and it was exactly the movie I needed to see.
5. The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave (1971)
R | 103 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller
A rich, mentally unstable man who's obsessed with his deceased wife invites women to the family castle for a game of deadly S&M. He suddenly decides to get married to the beautiful Gladys, but does she have his best interests at heart?
Watched October 3 strengths: The title, movie poster, and plot synopsis on IMDB are what hooked me. cinema photography is well done and the music is absolutely perfect. It begins with young beautiful women being seduced to a castle where the main protagonist has them undress and put on thigh high black boots before whipping them.. unfortunately from this point the plot takes a bad turn into Scooby-doo town. weaknesses: i know it is standard for 99% of Italian movies for this time period but the dubbing even when done well is still lacking. Dubbing is a sad substitute for true dialog spoken during a scene. It was even standard procedure to dub the native Italian spoken during film production. lame. The plot was seriously lifted straight from a Scooby-Doo cartoon, soo disappointing. No good kills. Scissor stab. Snake bite. rock to head = boring The story ruined it for me. 3 Stars ***- one for the eye candy, one for the music, and one for the cinema photography
6. Demon Wind (1990)
R | 96 min | Horror
With the need to investigate the mysterious death of his grandparents, Cory and his friends assemble back to the old farm where it all began, sixty years earlier.
Watched October 4 Strengths: It tries really hard and fails.. The story is sooo Bad, all movie logic is out the window.. If you need some more characters to kill off just have them drive up and arrive mid-movie with no explanation and the plot also borrows heavily from The Evil Dead + The dialog and acting is wooden + The make up and special effects are actually really good though.. makes for a highly watchable & entertaining bad movie experience Weaknesses: i would have liked to have seen more gore and violence.. It is a little too tame for my tastes. Full Disclosure: the movie is in color but I watched in Black and White and loved it.. because that's the way i like it
7. Rituals (1977)
R | 100 min | Adventure, Horror, Thriller
Five doctors on a wilderness outing are stalked by disfigured, crazed killers.

Watched October 6 A coming of age story from the guy who brought you the movie Phantasm. Not really horror but the story is takes place during Halloween.. This is my second time watching it so I highly recommend it. Definitely not politically correct but if you wanna see what being a kid and feeling free was like in the 1970's.. then this is the movie for you.
9. Patrick (1978)
PG | 96 min | Horror
A comatose hospital patient harasses and kills though his powers of telekinesis to claim his private nurse as his own.

10. Castle of Blood (1964)
Not Rated | 87 min | Horror
A journalist takes a bet that he can spend the night in a haunted castle on All Hallow's Eve. During his stay, he bears witness to the castle's gruesome past coming to life before him, and falls in with a beautiful female ghost.
Watched October 8 This one only has two good things going for it.. The beautiful Barbara Steele and the cinema photography..shot in glorious Black and White with a very dark and Gothic atmosphere. Story was lame and the scares were tame. side note- I did appreciate the bare female breasts.
11. Symptoms (1974)
R | 92 min | Horror
A young woman is invited by her girlfriend, who lives in an English country mansion, to stay there with her. The estate, however, isn't quite what it seems--and neither is the friend who issued the invitation.
Watched October 09 the plot is paper thin but what it lacks in story it makes up for in good acting, excellent cinema photography like visual poetry, and a creepy moody atmosphere. I watched it in black and white and it looked beautiful. I may watch again in color just to compare. This is the kind of movie that needs to be remade.. fix some of the clunky dialog and establish a more cohesive story arc.. but then again the feeling of being lost as to what exactly was happening on screen is part of this movie's charm.
12. Horror on Snape Island (1972)
R | 89 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller
A group of experienced archeologists are searching for an old and mystic Phoenician treasure when they are surprised by a series of mysterious murders...
Watched October 10 This one pushed all the right buttons for me.. a good story, sex, eye candy, blood, and gore. The movie was made for people like me who share the writer and director's vision of what makes an entertaining movie in this genre of film.. I'm positive there are millions of people out there who would not like this movie at all for a multitude of reasons.. c'est la vie.. I for one loved it. full disclosure: this is a color movie that I chose to watch in black and white. fyi - I prefer the title TOWER OF EVIL
13. The Shout (1978)
86 min | Horror, Drama
A traveller by the name of Crossley forces himself upon a musician and his wife in a lonely part of Devon, and uses the aboriginal magic he has learned to displace his host.
watched October 11
I really wanted to like this one but didn't.. I could even make a good argument as to why this film shouldn't be considered a horror movie. Basic Plot - Man enters a couple's life and claims he can kill with a shout then gives a pretty convincing demonstration.
Heavy on allegory but missing a few things i like in my horror.. like an element of danger or creepiness, scares, and a little blood. This movie was just menacing, strange, and dull. *1 one star for the excellent cast and acting which was enough to hold my attention for 86 minutes but not enough to make me like it.
14. The Thing (I) (2011)
R | 103 min | Horror, Mystery, Sci-Fi
At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson.
Votes: 115,461 | Gross: $16.93M
watched October 12th an utter disappointment.. I haven't felt so such disappointment since I was twelve years old and my main big Christmas gift was a light brown corduroy suit. I felt guilty for crying in front of my dad and then having to explain the reason I was sad.. He was cool though.. He said. "we'll go to K-Mart tomorrow and you can pick out whatever you want.".. It worked :) I felt better. So after watching THE THING aka The Turd I followed it with KILL BILL VOL. 1 in Black & White It worked.
15. Daimajin (1966)
Unrated | 84 min | Drama, Fantasy, Horror
A giant stone statue comes to life to protect the residents of a small town against the depradations of an evil warlord.
Watched October 13 I enjoyed it .. but then again I'm really into Japanese films about a giant stone statue God that come to life to save a peaceful village form an evil warlord.
16. The War of the Gargantuas (1966)
G | 92 min | Action, Horror, Sci-Fi

Watched October 14 made by the director of the original Godzilla & Rodan.. not as good as those two movies but still good .. a nice change of pace.. a better title would have been "War Of The Frankensteins" because that is the name of the monsters in the film.. bonus points for the opening scene of a giant octopus attacking a ship.. tentacle horror is way under rated.
17. Daughters of Darkness (1971)
R | 87 min | Horror
A newlywed couple are passing through a vacation resort. Their paths cross with a mysterious, strikingly beautiful countess and her aide.
Watched started on October 15th/ finished October 18th an art-house vampire story .. this is my 2nd time watching this.. I didn't like it the first time over 10 years ago but thought I would give it another chance.. because why not? It was definitely better this viewing but unfortunately I could not keep my eyes open until the end.. I had to turn it off more because I was tired than the movie's fault.. I will have to finish it later. October 18th didn't hate it this time around. A few might disagree but I think this would an excellent choice for a re-make because the story is fantastic.
18. Little Sister (I) (2016)
91 min | Comedy, Drama
Young nun Colleen is avoiding all contact from her family, returning to her childhood home in Asheville NC, she finds her old room exactly how she left it: painted black and covered in goth/metal posters.
Watched October 16th not really horror but the story takes place around Halloween so it qualifies :) Quirky in the best possible ways.. not that it doesn't have some faults but i won't hold them against this movie. I loved it warts and all. Written and directed by ZACH CLARK who also made "White Reindeer" a dark humored Christmas film that I've watched every December for the past 4 years. Watch the Trailer!
19. The Fan (1982)

The hero-worship that Simone has for a pop singer is built to a crescendo until she passes out when she finally sees him up-close in a crowd of fans pushing him for autographs. She is later... See full summary »
Watched October 17th this was fantatic! I wasn't even sure I was watching a horror movie for the first hour..but believe me it was one by the end. The story is about a young teenage girl obsessed with a pop star called "R" who runs away from home to meet and be with him, but what happens is exactly what you expect up to a point.. I won't spoil the rest. Soundtrack is great synth-pop much like the band Kraftwerk.
20. Lust of the Vampire (1957)
82 min | Horror
A mad scientist captures young women and drains their blood, in order to keep alive an ancient, evil duchess.
watched October 19th I VAMPIRI (1957) cinema photography and uncredited direction by the famous Mario Bava and it has his touch all over it. Inspired by the same story as Daughters of Darkness about a famous countess who kills and uses blood of the living to stay young.. It was great .. i *beep* you not.. and the special effect of the countess transforming from young to old and back again is seamlessly perfect.. amazing to watch it happen right before your eyes. I still have no idea how the effect was done.. i loved the story and everything else :)
21. Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter (1974)
R | 91 min | Adventure, Horror, Mystery

R | 89 min | Action, Horror

watched October 23 I wasn't expecting much from this one but it turned out to be very enjoyable.. Martial Arts meets Vampires.. Black Belt meets Black Magic.. a collaboration between Shaw Brothers & Hammer Studios.. not perfect but I liked it anyway
25. Twins of Evil (1971)
R | 87 min | Horror
A religious sect led by Gustav Weil hunts all women suspected of witchcraft, killing a number of innocent victims. Young Katy, Gustav's niece, will involve herself in a devilish cult, and become an instrument of Justice in the region.
watched October 24 watched in glorious black and white and it made all the difference. The story is pretty straight forward as far as vampire/devil worship/witch hunt movies go, but the execution of this simple tale is outstanding on every other level..the acting, the wardrobe, cinema photography were all top notch. Warning! This film has sinful devil worshiping, bloodletting, human sacrifices, young nubile witch burnings, head decapitation, and plenty of heaving bosoms.
26. Not of This Earth (1957)
Approved | 67 min | Horror, Sci-Fi
An alien agent from the distant planet Davana is sent to Earth via a high-tech matter transporter. There, he terrorizes Southern California in an attempt to acquire blood for his dying race, the result of a devastating nuclear war.
Watched October 25 It feels like a really good episode of THE OUTER LIMITS television show but lacks some punch due to the low budget of this production.. Sometimes lack of budget can be a positive .. the simple white contacts for the main Human/Alien hybrids works very well.. but lack of budget can be a negative too.. the other alien looks like a joke It is a rubber umbrella with a crab glued on top of it. but aside from that one weak link.. I still enjoyed it.. Short and sweet .. only 67 minutes
27. The Vampire Lovers (1970)
R | 91 min | Horror
Seductive vampire Carmilla Karnstein and her family target the beautiful and the rich in a remote area of late eighteenth-century Gemany.
watched October 26 ok soooo maybe I went overboard on lesbian vampire movies this month. This was good but not great. It needed a more engaging story.. Heaving bosoms and head decapitations can only hold my attention for so much time.
28. The Thing from Another World (1951)
Not Rated | 87 min | Horror, Sci-Fi
Scientists and American Air Force officials fend off a bloodthirsty alien organism while at a remote arctic outpost.
watched October 27 Fantastic Science fiction horror. In another world the makers of THE THING (2011) would have used this original as a blueprint and let the opening sequence of THE THING (1982) be the ending.. then they would have had a decent film.
29. Terror Train (1980)

33. The Boogens (1981)
R | 95 min | Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Otherworldly creatures are released from the bootleg tunnels underneath a small-town mining community, and begin chomping on the locals.
watched October 31 Not too bad.. but I knew something was up when they didn't show the creature up until the last act.. low budget creature effects could have been better.. as well as an explanation as to what Boogens are and where they came from. I liked it.. but can't recommend.
