1. Ultra Q (1965– )

Ultra Q is a series that was influenced by Toho's horror and science fiction films of the 50s and 60s, essentially the series is a string of half an hour horror films.

The series also pre-dates the X-Files when it comes to a television series that focuses on two people investigating strange parnanormal phenomena.

2. Ultraman: A Special Effects Fantasy Series (1966–1967)

This series was a great depart from its predecessor, focusing more on the giant monsters rather than the "ground level" paranormal phenomena Ultra Q dealt with.

3. Ultraman (1968)

4. Ultraseven (1967–1968)

An alien superhero from M-78 protects Earth from extraterrestrial threats in this popular classic follow-up to the original "Ultraman" TV series.

Ultra Seven was the follow up to the original Ultraman series that tried to replicate its success not only stylistically but, formula wise as well. This series went on to become an even bigger success than its predecessor, leading to cameos in nearly every single series/movie.

This series was intended to be the last but it's popularity stopped it from being so.

5. Return of Ultraman (1971–1972)

Another being from Nebula M-78, identical to the original Ultraman, combines with car racer-turned-MAT patrol member Hideki Gô, and fights assorted menaces in a frightening new "Age of Monsters."

The Return of Ultraman was a result of a hiatus the series undertook because of original creator Eiji Tsuburaya's death in 1970.

6. Ultraman Ace (1972–1973)

After being mortally wounded in a monster attack, grocery man Seiji Hokuto and medical girl Yuko Minami are revived by (and given two Ultra Rings, with which they unite into) a new Ultra-being, Ultraman Ace.

This series is a great departure from the previous series' science fiction and sometimes mystery approach to its formula, instead becoming a fully fledged superhero series complete with cameos from previous "Ultramen".
