Director: David Twohy | Stars: Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, Vin Diesel, Keith David

Votes: 207,613 | Gross: $39.24M

This decidedly average sci-fi flick would've worked much better as a horror rather than an action movie.

2. Gamer (2009)

R | 95 min | Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

27 Metascore

In a future mind-controlling game, death row convicts are forced to battle in a 'Doom'-type environment. Convict Kable, controlled by Simon, a skilled teenage gamer, must survive thirty sessions in order to be set free. Or won't he?

Directors: Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor | Stars: Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Ludacris, Amber Valletta

Votes: 121,055 | Gross: $20.49M

This movie could've been significantly better if the action scenes had recieved the proper amount of attention and detail. The action scenes (Or lack there of_ we see onscreen are ultimately dull and boring.

3. Skyline (2010)

PG-13 | 97 min | Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

26 Metascore

Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.

Directors: Colin Strause, Greg Strause | Stars: Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Scottie Thompson, Brittany Daniel

Votes: 81,521 | Gross: $21.37M

Great special effects and gnarly aliens couldn't save this medicore effort with it's virtually non existant plot (With what little plot there is being full of holes) and shallow two demensional characters.

4. Spawn (1997)

R | 96 min | Action, Horror

34 Metascore

An elite mercenary is killed, but comes back from Hell as a reluctant soldier of the Devil.

Director: Mark A.Z. Dippé | Stars: Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, Theresa Randle

Votes: 57,572 | Gross: $54.97M

Doesn't do the comic book any justice.

5. Sucker Punch (2011)

PG-13 | 110 min | Action, Fantasy

33 Metascore

A young girl is institutionalized by her abusive stepfather, retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, envisioning a plan to help her escape.

Director: Zack Snyder | Stars: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone

Votes: 212,121 | Gross: $36.39M

Excellent movie, but could've been better if more effort had been made to show how Laura Aka: Babydoll ended up in an asylum. The three minutes we see of her life previously appear in the movie like an after thought of the director and comes off relatively weak. A much more detailed 15 mins spent on this would've helped to give the characters development a big boost from the start and made for a more powerful film over all.

6. Inception (2010)

PG-13 | 148 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

74 Metascore

A thief, who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology, is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO.

Director: Christopher Nolan | Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe

Votes: 1,711,055 | Gross: $292.58M

Great concept, acting, special effects and plot. What was wrong with it? Overly complex story full of plot holes, and lot's of stuff that makes little to no sense to the point where the slow story and inconsistancies get tiresome.

7. The Doors (1991)

62 Metascore

Director: Oliver Stone | Stars: Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan, Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Whaley

Votes: 74,349 | Gross: $35.18M

This movie would've been better IMO if it had been a more realistic portrayal of Jim Morrisions life as opposed to portraying him as an half insane dangerous sociopath.

8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)

Losing the camp factor and being more like the first movie in atmosphere and tone would've been a good improvement.

The poor casting and crappy acting leaves this movie with more of a "90210 in space" feel than that of a sci-fi war movie.
