Although never intended to share the same movie universe, these two franchises are now linked thanks to two cross-over films.

This list put the films of the 'Alien' and 'Predator' franchises in chronological order, including the semi-prequel to 'Alien' - 'Prometheus'.

This list shows how the individual movies reference each other and establish a shared universe... (There are therefore potential SPOILERS!)

3. AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)

In 2004, an archaeological expedition discovers the link between the Aliens and Predators.

The expedition is led by Charles Bishop Weyland, a co-founder of the Weyland Yutani Corporation (this is "the company" referred to in the later Alien movies).

The androids Bishop and Bishop II from 'Aliens' and 'Alien 3' are modelled on this human 'ancestor'.

4. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

At the cemetery sequence, the man with a gun stands in front of a tombstone with the name "HAWKINS" on it. Hawkins was one of the soldiers in 'Predator'.

8. Alien: Covenant - Prologue: The Crossing (2017)

Fury-161 is referred to as one of "Weyland-Yutani's backwater prison planets" and the company name written in Japanese can be briefly seen on the black box and on a poster in the office.

14. Alien: Resurrection (1997)
