1. The American President (1995)

Comedy-drama about a widowed U.S. President and a lobbyist who fall in love. It's all above-board, but "politics is perception", and sparks fly anyway.

Probably the only true political-romance ever done. My 1st intro to Aaron Sorkin's writing and I was enthralled. Annette Benning, Michael Douglas, Michael J. Fox... The entire cast is amazing in this right down to Shawna Waldron as Lucy Shepherd.

Classic story telling. Forget the "authentic Southy images" and just focus on the path Will Hunting travels in this movie. When Robin Williams puts him against the wall! Got to say I would have preferred a different girl for him - not my favorite Minnie Driver character.
