1. La Haine (1995)
Not Rated | 98 min | Crime, Drama
24 hours in the lives of three young men in the French suburbs the day after a violent riot.
Votes: 124,680 | Gross: $0.31M
The subtitled versions of this movie I have seen dont do it any justice. The script was brilliant in its simplicity, the acting didnt feel like acting (yes, thats a good thing) the production and direction was amazing (kassovitz is top notch) and visual the movie was gorgeous! The way Paris is shot has only been done as well once before...and it was in my number 2 movie, 400 Blows
2. The 400 Blows (1959)
Not Rated | 99 min | Crime, Drama
A young boy, left without attention, delves into a life of petty crime.
Visual encompassing. Being born many years after the movie came out, it gave me true insight about Parisian life before my time. The acting is superb, and the whole movie screams Truffaut. No other movie starts, and ends as meaningfully as this one

Votes: 31,840 | Gross: $0.21M
This movie had no financial backing and was paid for piece by piece. When the writer, director and main actor are the same, it usually means find another movie to watch. This is definitely not the case with this one. There have been many copycats since this movie came out, with good reason. This is much darker, and better than American Psycho.
