A wild and fun popcorn flick. I so enjoy Teller's character's intoxicating brand of ultra irreverence. If he were real I think he would be a riot to hang out with.

It was so cool to see a movie filmed in the part of town I live in, and a very innovative choice for the director to film a movie around here that goes out of its way to not mention Seattle or Washington State. Even the UW was rechristened the vague, chuckle-inspiring 'Northern University.'

It is also very refreshing to see a film that takes place in Washington State in which it never rains during the whole movie.

Yes, the visuals are awesome and unprecedented, and I confess I enjoyed them very much, but what I have wanted for so long now is movies with great, fresh, original stories. What worked out with such elegance for 'Star Wars,' the retelling of a composite of stories as old as storytelling, came off as heavy-handed and preachy for Avatar. I watch movies to be taken somewhere else for a short while, only a great tale can do that. No amount of special effects can make up for the lack of a good story.
