Day of the Woman (better known by its re-release title, I Spit on Your Grave) is a controversial rape revenge film. The film was produced in 1978 and received a limited release, with a wider release in 1980 and later remake released in 2010. Prominent film critics condemned the film for its graphic violence and lengthy depictions of gang rape, and the picture remains controversial to this day. The film was named one of TIME's Top 10 Ridiculously Violent Movies in 2007

Thriller – A Cruel Picture (Swedish: Thriller – en grym film, also known as They Call Her One Eye, Hooker's Revenge and Thriller) is a 1973 Swedish exploitation film in the "rape and revenge" genre written and directed by Bo Arne Vibenius. It tells the story of a mute young woman who is being forced into heroin addiction for which she has to work as a prostitute, and her revenge on the men responsible.
The film was marketed as the first film ever to be completely banned in Sweden, although the one that actually was first was Victor Sjöström's The Gardener from 1912. It has received a cult following and was one of the inspirations behind Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, specifically the character of Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah).

Death Wish is a 1974 criminal thriller film based on the 1972 novel by Brian Garfield. The film was directed by Michael Winner and stars Charles Bronson as Paul Kersey, a man who becomes a vigilante after his wife is murdered and his daughter is sexually assaulted by muggers.
A commercial success, Death Wish generated a movie franchise lasting four sequels over a twenty-year period. The film was denounced by some critics as advocating vigilantism and unlimited punishment to criminals[citation needed], but it was seen as echoing a growing mood in the United States as crime rose during the 1970s

Ms. 45, also known as Angel of Vengeance, is a 1981 American low-budget exploitation film directed by Abel Ferrara and starring Zoë Tamerlis Lund. Inspired by films such as Death Wish and Thriller - en grym film, the film is a rape and revenge story about Thana, a mute woman who becomes a misandristic spree killer (not strictly a vigilante) after she is raped twice in one day when coming home from work. It was critically maligned on its theatrical release, but is now generally highly-regarded among fans of underground film.

Baiser is a French verb meaning "to fuck"; it also used to mean "to kiss" in classic French texts. Baise-moi would be translated as "fuck me". The film has also been screened in some markets as "Rape Me", but this translation, which is not in the French word, was rejected by the directors in a 2002 interview.

Irréversible is a 2002 French film written, directed, photographed, and edited by Gaspar Noé. It stars Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel. Several reviewers[who?] declared it one of the most disturbing and controversial films of 2002. The film employs non-linear narrative. The music is by French electronic musician Thomas Bangalter, who is best known as half of the band Daft Punk.
Irréversible won the "Bronze Horse" award at the Stockholm Film Festival and competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, as well as the "Best Foreign Language Award" by the Film Critics Circle of Australia. It was also voted "Best Foreign Language Film" by the San Diego Film Critics Society (tied with Les Invasions Barbares).

Thelma & Louise is a 1991 American road movie starring two female leads. Directed by Ridley Scott and written by Callie Khouri, the film's plot revolves around Thelma and Louise's escape from their troubled, caged lives. It stars Geena Davis as Thelma and Susan Sarandon as Louise, and co-stars Harvey Keitel as a sympathetic detective trying to trace them as they go on the run after killing a rapist. Michael Madsen plays the role of Louise's boyfriend. Brad Pitt (in his first significant role in a major Hollywood film) plays a parolee robber.
Thelma & Louise became an instant critical and commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of 1991, and receiving six Academy Award nominations, winning one for Best Original Screenplay. Both Sarandon and Davis were nominated for their roles in the same category, Academy Award for Best Actress. However, the two lost the award to Jodie Foster for her role in The Silence of the Lambs.

Extremities is a 1986 film starring Farrah Fawcett, Alfre Woodard, Diana Scarwid and James Russo. It was adapted from the successful, yet controversial, 1982 off-Broadway play by William Mastrosimone. Farrah Fawcett had also appeared in the play to great critical acclaim, taking over a role originated by Susan Sarandon. James Russo also appeared in the play as the attacker.

The Virgin Spring (Swedish: Jungfrukällan) is a 1960 Swedish drama film directed by Ingmar Bergman. Set in medieval Sweden, it is a revenge tale about a father's merciless response to the rape and murder of his young daughter. The story was adapted by screenwriter Ulla Isaksson from a 13th century Swedish ballad, "Töres dotter i Wänge" . The film contains a number of themes that question morals, justice, and religious beliefs, and was considered controversial when first released due to its infamous rape scene. It won for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1961 Academy Awards, and was also the basis for the 1972 exploitation horror film The Last House on the Left.

The 2009 film Run! Bitch Run! is a throw back to the classic 1970's rape and revenge films like Last House on the Left and Ms. 45. The film takes place in the late 1970’s, where the lack of modern technology made the world a more vulnerable place.

Eye for an Eye is a film directed by John Schlesinger and starring Sally Field, Kiefer Sutherland, Ed Harris, Beverly D'Angelo and Joe Mantegna. The story was adapted from Erika Holzer's novel of the same name. The film opened on January 12, 1996.
This film was remade in India as the Hindi film Dushman (1998) starring Kajol in a double role.

Hitch-Hike (Italian: Autostop rosso sangue), also known as Death Drive and The Naked Prey, is a 1977 Italian crime film directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile. The film stars Franco Nero and Corinne Clery as a couple in a troubled marriage, and David Hess as a fugitive who takes them hostage. The musical score was written by Ennio Morricone. The film is based on Peter Kane's novel The Violence and the Fury.

Currently, a remake of this movie in English, to star Aishwarya Rai and Meryl Streep, is planned.
