- Arthur Blake is a middle-aged man on the brink of a losing his mind. He's fed up with his job, the terrible people he works with, and life as a whole. And he's had enough. In exactly one week, he plans on taking his life along with all of his co-workers. His plan is derailed by an unassuming accomplice.
- We open on Arthur Blake at work, doodling on a notepad as his boss drones on and on. His other co-workers, equally annoying, add to the chorus of annoying people in the room. When we finally get a look at Arthur's drawing, we see that it's a crude drawing detailing what's is plan. Him shooting everybody in his office and then turning the gun on himself. Exactly one week from the day. We then follow Arthur through his week and see why he is fed up with life. He has no friends, no girlfriend, and his family doesn't understand him. Arthur takes out a large amount of money from the bank and goes to the buy some guns. Even though Arthur barely knows how to handle these weapons, the gun-shop owner happily sells Arthur multiple firearms after seeing how much cash Arthur has. Later on in the week, his older brother Ahmed returns home from jail and his family throws a welcome-home party. Arthur, who seemingly does everything right, has always been in the shadows of his older brother Ahmed, who has always done things wrong. The party ends with Arthur being punched by Ahmed and Arthur wearing a child's party hat. After seeing Arthur's week and his preparation for the big day, it finally arrives. But when Arthur walks in to literally execute his plans he is thrown off by Gavin, the young receptionist at the front. Arthur decides to give her a heads up and a head start to leave but we quickly learn that Gavin is equally fed up with life as well. She has a bruise around her eye and tells Arthur that her ex-boyfriend has been abusing her and she's ready to quit on life as well. Arthur tries to convince her that she should leave but she refuses and Arthur is surprised when she says she wants to help. She tells Arthur to either give her a gun or shoot her first. Arthur walks back out, needing time to think. She follows him and hops in his car. The two take a drive and Arthur learns more about her and the two form an unlikely bond. Meanwhile, there is a detective (Cal) who happens to stumble upon Arthur's plans after Arthur and Gavin rob a liquor store. Cal puts the pieces together, finds out where Arthur works and races back to the office before Arthur and Gavin return. Arthur and Gavin, after a few drinks, go back to their office and are ready to send everyone to their makers and then turn the guns on themselves but are stopped by Cal. Cal talks them out of shooting everyone in the office but is surprised to see Arthur count to three and then Gavin and Arthur turn the guns on each other. We hear the beeps of a hospital bed and Arthur and Gavin are surprised that they aren't dead. They wake up in a hospital bed, restrained and see Cal in the room. They missed. They don't know how to shoot. Cal says they're going to jail and that he hopes they both get the help they need. Arthur's final words to Cal are, "when I get out of here, I'm going to learn how to shoot a gun and then shoot you." Cal shakes his head and leaves. Arthur sits in his bed, tears in his eyes, wondering where his plans went wrong.
