- The BAU goes to St. Louis when an 18-year old woman escapes from a house where she and 2 other women were held for a decade.
- In St Louis a young woman is found who tells of being held captive for years with two others. Another young woman is near death and the third is taken by the abductor as he tries to get away. There is evidence of beatings and rape by their "Daddy". As the case unfolds there are even more reasons to get the accused and even the girls to fully cooperate.
- The BAU travels to St. Louis, Missouri, where emaciated eighteen year old Gina Bryant, a former foster child with no real family, has just gone into the authorities stating that she and two other girls have been held in long term captivity against their will by a man calling himself Tom. The authorities locating and going to the house where Gina was held captive, they find one of the girls alive still there, fifteen year old Sheila Woods, while the third older girl, who Gina knew only as Violet, is missing, gone most likely with Tom. Sheila was left behind because she was ill, from what the doctors learn are complications from a miscarriage. Beyond being malnourished, both Gina and Sheila also have old scars and broken bones which have not healed properly, showing signs of physical abuse by Tom. The house itself is owned by Clara Riggins, a missing woman if still alive would be 108 years old, and thus probably not in the picture of what is happening. Gina reports that Violet was an accomplice in her abduction ten years ago, she acting as Tom's daughter, with the team still believing she was abducted from whoever her real family. From the composite sketch and other information about the captivity, the team is quickly able to identify "Tom". Regardless, they still have to find Tom and Violet, the one who has been abducted the longest, whose true identity is still unknown and who may have the strongest bond with Tom as the one who generally cooperated with him the most. They have to discover where Tom's "disappearing place" is, a place where Gina mentions Tom would often go. The team also has to discover what bond Tom and Violet have and what other issues result in the case because of it.—Huggo
