A documentary that examines the cases of three individuals who were wrongfully incarcerated for murder and sheds light on weaknesses in the US justice system. With the help of James McCloskey and his organization, Centurion Ministries, these convictions were ultimately overturned. "Truth Has Fallen" investigates why these three individuals were wrongfully convicted and suggests changes to our justice system that could help to reduce the rate of wrongful convictions. Eddie Baker, Jimmy Landano, and Joyce Ann Brown, all clients of McCloskey, provide emotional testimony describing their experiences of wrongful incarceration. Expressionistic painted animation represents their stories, personalizing their accounts. Each case illustrates problems encountered within the criminal justice system. Experts offer insight into these issues and provide a roadmap to potential improvements. Attorney Barry Scheck co-founded and directs the Innocence Project at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He explains the problems with eyewitness testimonies and describes an alternative approach that could dramatically reduce wrongful identifications. He praises the benefits of DNA testing, but notes that DNA evidence is only available in rape/murder cases, and the cost makes it unaffordable for most people. Vincent Bugliosi has had a distinguished career as a prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. He explains that the district attorney's office has far fewer resources than that of the prosecutor. Mr. Bugliosi admits to being shaken up by the number of innocent people on death row. He states, "No responsible lawyer or prosecutor in this country is going to come out at this point strongly in favor of continuing executing people until we resolve this issue." It brings to light the experiences of these wrongly convicted individuals, their courage in fighting for their innocence, and James McCloskey's unwavering support and resources.
