Julie is convinced that Warney is ripping off Dave's business, but Dave is positive his mate is doing no such thing, and his loyalty to Warney is strengthened when he discovers they had similar childhoods.

Nathan receives a job offer from Tim Connelly and Dave feels betrayed when he thinks about taking it. Julie believes that Warney is ripping off Dave, who refuses to think it could be true until he discovers the evidence for himself. When Nathan decides to take the job, Dave offers Nathan's position to Chrissey, who lost her job because of Warney. Elsewhere, Ben pushes his luck too far in trying to compete for Melissa's affections over a new doctor--and discovers that he has a heart condition. This prompts Dave to think about looking for his real parents, who abandoned him when he was a baby.—Anonymous

Ben isn't interested into becoming his bar's manager--until Mel brings her handsome, athletic new colleague there: surgeon Luke Hanson, a former rowing champion. Nathan's unease to dig a trench in former real-estate relation Tim Connelly's garden turns into delight when he's offered a job. Dave tells Nathan to accept, never mind "family firm" loyalty and even finds an ideal alternative. Nathan and Connelly find proof that Dave's trust in Warney is dubious, which he ends up finding out for himself. Dave and Julie's relationship comes under strain as Dave struggles with a series of betrayals. Julie is convinced that Warney is ripping off Dave's business, but Dave is positive that his mate would do no such thing. Warney is able to explain away any discrepancies--and Dave's loyalty to him is strengthened when he discovers that they had similar childhoods; Warney was also adopted. Meanwhile, Nathan's easy working relationship with his father is tested when they do a job for Tim Connelly, a real estate agent with whom Nathan once interviewed. Nathan's work ethic impresses Tim and he surprises Nathan by offering him a job. Dave knows he should be thrilled for his son but can't help feeling betrayed and abandoned. Ben and Melissa are tentatively dating, but the arrival of handsome new doctor Luke Hanson sets Ben on a destructively jealous path. Melissa's furious reaction makes Ben determined to win her back by becoming what she wants: an athletic, successful man. But his plans are cut short when he suffers what seems to be a heart attack. Ben's emergency plus Dave's feelings of abandonment force Dave to face up to his childhood--deserted by his parents and adopted at a young age. Julie suggests that it's time he discovers the truth about his past, but is he ready to find out?
