Eliza's and Desmond's characters, Jessie Burlingame and Chris Flynn, do not return in the sequel, nor are their characters mentioned. Completely different cast. None are the same.
In order to obtain a TV-14 rating, mostly nudity and profanity was cut whilst the gore scenes are pretty much intact.
