Jim Rockford is limping the entire episode, which is even addressed in some of the dialogue. The real reason was because James Garner had undergone a knee operation during the hiatus between the filming of the first and second seasons. In an interview, James Garner explained that while shooting this episode, he'd fallen down a flight of stairs which aggravated the knee that had been operated on. His doctor instructed him to stay off his feet for a couple of days, but after the first day away from the studio, Universal began legal proceedings for breach of contract. Garner immediately went back to work, struggling as the episode completed filming.
Jim and Aaron are shown entering room 434 of the Beverly Hilton hotel to sell Aaron's business. In 2012 singer Whitney Houston passed away in room 434 of the same hotel and the room number was retired/the room repurposed.
First episode featuring a newly arranged version of the classic Pete Carpenter and Mike Post Rockford Files theme.
The part of "Nino" was played by Jonathan Goldsmith "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in Dos Equis beer commercials from 2007 to 2016.
Actor Luis Delgado who played "driver" in this episode, made regular appearances throughout the Rockford Files series; more commonly as officer Billings (sometimes named Todd or Jack). Delgado was James Garner's friend and assistant for over 40 years.
