Arnold Schwarzenegger and Arnold Stang in Ercole a New York (1970)

Blooper

Ercole a New York

Modifica

Continuity

Traffic, including honking horns, can be heard during scenes on Mount Olympus, due to these scenes actually being filmed in New York City's Central Park.
It alternates between day and night between when the bear escapes and he encounters Hercules in Central Park
When Hercules and Helen are sightseeing in New York, Hercules changes from wearing a white turtleneck to a white cardigan over a green shirt.
When Hercules and Helen ride in the carriage, the background frequently changes between shots.
As Hercules climbs the stairs to Zeus, there is a woman standing behind Zeus's throne. In the next shot she stands beside it.

Factual errors

Mercury, the character in the film, is actually the Roman messenger of the gods and son of Jupiter. His Greek counterpart is Hermes.
During the chariot chase, when the cars swerve and speed along the grass, the tyres screech loudly. Car tyres can only screech on asphalt roads.
Despite Hercules' repeated assertion that he is a demigod from Mount Olympus in Greece, the featured deities Zeus, Nemesis, Eros, Pluto and Atlas are the only ones of proper Greek origin; Hercules, Venus, Juno, Mercury and Neptune are all Roman deities (the equivalents of the Greek deities Herakles, Aphrodite, Hera, Hermes and Poseidon). Samson is a character in the Christian Bible, not from Greek mythology.

Revealing mistakes

The bear is obviously a man in a suit, and in one shot you can see shoes on the bear.
In the version of the film with Arnold's real voice restored, Hercules' replacement voice remains in the scene featuring Pretzie speaking with Hercules over the radio. The film studio has attempted to disguise this by adding radio static, but "Herc" still sounds completely different from Arnold.
On the Mount Olympus set, car horns and traffic can occasionally be heard on the soundtrack, revealing that the set is actually a city park.
As Hercules starts turning over the taxi driver's car, a sudden movement of the tree branches in the background reveals that there's a wire attached to the car.
When Helen and Hercules tour the New York streets, passers-by stare at the camera and actors.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Hercules and Helen see the Hercules movie poster ("He doesn't even look like me!"), Hercules removes his sweater and flexes his muscles. You hear Helen say "Oh wow!" and gasp but her lip movement obviously shows she is saying more words.
When Hercules holds back the forklift truck after escaping the ship with Pretzie, he says "A fine chariot, but where are your horses?" but he mouths the words too early and no audio is heard. This is corrected in the non-dubbed version with Schwarzenegger's real voice.

Crew or equipment visible

While Hercules and Mercury were talking to each-other in an apartment room, you can hear the camera man's creaky footsteps when the camera moves to the left and to the right.
Stage lights are reflected in Zeus's crystal ball.
In a shot' as Hercules and Helen ride in the carriage, the shadow of a cameraman is cast on them.

Plot holes

A mix of the Greek and the Roman names for Gods are used in the film. In the film's finale, both the Greek god Atlas (the only person holding the sky up over the earth) and Samson, who is in fact a Biblical character, are called upon to help Hercules.

Character error

Atlas is not depicted carrying the Earth but a celestial body.
